Got a call today from 020338569265. There was a recorded message saying it was HMRC and to press '1' or they'd take me to court over unpaid tax. I’m 70 and have been retired ages, so no way I owe any tax. Obviously just a scam, so I just hung up straight away. Total rubbish.

Got a call on my mobile from 0203 896 9752 today, but my iPhone flagged it as coming from Egypt, so I ignored it. Later, I got a voicemail claiming to be from HMRC, urging me to ring back straight away with my solicitor or else there’d be serious trouble. Sounds like a total con to me. Best not to pick up or return their call!

I just ignored the call and afterwards got a voicemail saying something about a complaint linked to my National Insurance number and that I needed to ring back right away because it was urgent. Definitely a SCAM, so don’t pick up or call them back!

Got a call from this number ‭020 3896 5111‬ saying my National Insurance has been involved in some illegal activity and that I need to ring them immediately. It was all automated and pretty scary unless you know it’s a scam. Best advice: Don’t pick up, just block and ignore it.

Had a voicemail on my mobile pretending to be from 'HMRC', telling me or my solicitor to get in touch about a serious issue or else there'd be trouble. Didn’t ring the number they gave, but tried calling back the same number and couldn’t get through. My EE phone flagged it as POTENTIAL FRAUD. The whole thing felt really intimidating and sketchy.

I missed a call from a number I didn’t recognise on the 2nd of January. When I checked the voicemail quickly, it mentioned something about contacting HMRC, but I just deleted it straight away because I’m aware they don’t usually reach out like that. Just be careful and don’t share any personal info if you get a call like this.

Got a call from someone saying they were HMRC and that there was a warrenty out for me for fraud. They asked me to press 1 so I could talk to an ‘officer’ and sort out the tax they said I owed right then and there. I just hung up and blocked the number straight away!

I received a call from 02038965109 which went straight to voicemail. The message left sounded quite intimidating, and I think it could really scare some people. The voice warned me to take it seriously and advised me to get in touch with a solicitor. The person leaving the message spoke with an American accent. I've reported everything to HMRC, including the voicemail recording, the number, and the time of the call. Oddly enough, the voicemail came from a mobile number: 07953222222. I’m worried this sort of thing might cause a lot of distress and anxiety for others.

Some bloke called claiming to be from HMRC saying I need to find a solicitor because I was under investigation for tax fraud. The guy’s English was terrible, and I told him I wasn’t buying it. Then he said I could sort it out with the police when they show up! Like HMRC would ever go about it like that. Completely ridiculous.

On January 6th, 2020, I got a call on my mobile from 0203 896 5109. The voicemail was from someone claiming to be "Jean Baker at the Inland Revenue" (does that organisation even still exist?). She threatened serious trouble if I didn't get my solicitor or someone else to ring her back. Definitely sounded dodgy to me. What baffles me is why this number hasn’t been tracked down by the cops and these scammers haven't been nabbed yet?

Just a heads up, this is Jane Baker from the tax office ringing you about an “urgent” and “sensitive tax issue.” They say you or your lawyer need to “act straight away” or “prepare yourself.” Don’t buy into it, it’s pure rubbish and a textbook scam. Best to just hang up and not engage at all - dealing with these scammers could cause you more trouble.
