Got a similar call once. They left a voicemail saying there’d be big troubles if I didn’t call back with a lawyer. I just ignored it. Surely if you actually did get a solicitor involved like they said, the solicitor would tell you not to get back in touch at all.

Someone rang me saying my NI insurance number was no longer valid and I had to ring them straight away because of some fraud thingy. Seemed dodgy to me!

Got a call from 02038965110 but couldn’t pick up. Later, an automated voice said something about a service being ended, but didn’t explain which one. They told me to ring them back quick or else there’d be serious trouble. Sounds dodgy to me!

Got a missed call earlier and afterwards, an automated message played saying it was from the Inland Revenue, saying I needed to ring back with a solicitor or else I’d face serious trouble. The weird thing was, the voice sounded American. Sounds like a total scam to me, but it was pretty unsettling all the same.

Got a voicemail from this number and rang back. The person sounded Indian and immediately claimed HMRC has a case against me, without even bothering to ask my name or details. I kept asking what exactly was going on and what I was supposed to do, but all they did was push for my personal info and bank details. Their English was quite poor too, made me suspicious straight away. Honestly, I reckon they’ve pinched some info online and are just trying to scam folks. I get calls like this almost every year - best thing is to just block and ignore them, don’t waste your time!

This has got to be the most hilarious scam call I’ve gotten in ages. My partner and I saved the voicemail and now we keep playing it back for a laugh. It was one of those dodgy automated messages saying I owed something to HMRC and I had to ring them straight away. You could tell it was just something chucked together with some text-to-speech app, sounded like Google Translate’s voice! Honestly, don’t fall for this nonsense. To whoever is behind it - how about trying just a tiny bit harder next time?

Got a call around 4:55pm and picked up. There was an automated woman’s voice with a bit of a lag, sounding American, claiming to be from HMRC. She said I had major tax issues and insisted I ring back but only with my solicitor there. They kept stressing not to wait because if I delayed, they'd take action soon. The weird part is she recited the number to ring back even though it was clearly visible on my phone. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

Got a voicemail from this number, it was some automated voice with a North American accent, someone called Jean Baker was telling me to ring back or have a lawyer get in touch with 'inland revenue' or else face some consequences. Honestly, no clue how they ended up with my contact details.

I got a call from some automated voice saying it was the “Inland Revenue” with a warning not to ignore it and to ring back or there would be issues. The message was pretty scary but quite unclear about what it was actually about. The caller said they were “Officer Jean Baker” from HMRC or something like that. Sounded dodgy to me!

Just had a ring from someone claiming to be Jean from the US. Didn’t pick up because it seemed dodgy, but it’s pretty aggravating. I understand how the tax office works, so it didn’t faze me, but I imagine it could scare others. I’m planning to report it to HMRC, although it looks like these folks have been at it for quite some time, so I don’t get why no action has been taken yet.

Got a call from someone saying they were HMRC. I called them back and asked for some kind of ID or proof, and they just hung up on me. Honestly, block this number straight away, it’s definitely a scam! HMRC would never ring you out of the blue like that. A mate of mine got ripped off by these con artists to the tune of £50,000, so don’t fall for it!
