Got a call from an Indian bloke askin to update our call barring settings. He asked for our Name and Address first, then tried to get details about our Direct Debit. I'm gonna report this to our ISP and the proper authorities.

SCAM ALERT. This number kept ringing me nonstop for a few days. If I ignored it, the caller would just hang up. Today, when I answered with a simple hello, they connected me to a man with an Indian accent. He asked if I was the account holder for the phone. I asked why he needed to know, and he tried saying he was from the Telephone Preference Service. I cut him off and said I’d be filing a complaint, then he abruptly ended the call. Fingers crossed I don’t get any more calls from this lot.

I keep receiving calls from this particular number, and it’s always an Indian gentleman on the other end. Today, he introduced himself as Mike and asked me to confirm the expiry date on my bank details. Just like a few others mentioned, the caller claimed to be from TPS and had my name, address and landline number. They then asked about a debit card with a certain expiry date. I told them I didn’t have the card to hand so didn’t know. They actually got the date right though. I ended the call quickly since I’ve never had TPS ring me before and they don’t ask for direct debits. I reckon some poor soul will fall for this cause they share loads of info and it sounds real!

I've been plagued by foreign con artists operating beyond the reach of UK law - every single bit of information they provide is pure fabrication, including the phone numbers they use. This particular number tried to ring me five times, but thankfully, with BT's protective measures in place, those calls were intercepted as scams. However, today, they managed to reach me using a different number that slipped through the net. I've promptly added it to my blacklist. Thanks to BT Protect, I can monitor all the attempted calls, and it’s been quite shocking to see around 20 scam calls targeting me just this week alone - that's about five a day! The brilliant thing is that with BT’s complimentary protection service, I don’t have to endure those nuisances. If you've got a phone package, I highly recommend taking advantage of this free add-on. My experience with BT has been fantastic; it certainly helps in blocking the majority of these pesky calls.

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be Roger, said he was ringing from Telephone Preference. Got a call from a woman claiming to do consumer surveys. She mentioned an address I hadn’t lived at since 2009. She then asked stuff like my age and which newspaper I read. When I told her I needed to check the company’s website first before answering anything, she snapped at me, saying “why are you wasting my time, you bloody idiot!”

A call came through for my nearly 87-year-old mother, who is battling dementia. I picked up, acting as if I were her. The caller claimed they could eliminate all unwanted calls starting from the next day, yet they required the expiry date on her visa. They even mentioned the last four digits, but regrettably, I hadn't noted them down to verify if they had accurate information. I queried the necessity of that detail, and they reiterated it was for the purpose of cutting off nuisance calls. Once I revealed they weren't talking to my mother, they promptly terminated the call. When I attempted to ring the number back, it turned out they were not set up to receive incoming calls.

Got a call from an Asian guy claiming to be from TPS. He asked if I was getting any annoying sales calls, and I replied yes, including his. He went on to say that from tomorrow, all those calls would be blocked and I'd stop getting them. So I told him it was a shame coz I actually enjoyed chatting with him, but since his calls would be blocked, I wouldn't be hearing from him anymore. Of course, he hung up straight away, like always. These scams are seriously irritating and something needs to be done about them pronto.

When I said he might be a scam, he insisted he was legit. I told him I didn’t want to continue the conversation and just ended the call while he kept trying to keep me on the line.

Got a call from a bloke saying he was Craig from TPS. He asked if we were dealing with annoying calls, and my mum said 'yeah, you're one of them'. Then he just snapped back with 'you're a ####' and hung up. Proper annoying but honestly had me laughing a bit.

Got a call from a guy who said he was from TPS, sounded Asian. I said I wasn’t interested but he kept pushing, saying I’d lose loads of money if I didn’t accept his deal. I kept telling him I wasn’t interested, but he wouldn’t stop, kept saying I had to decide there and then. I finally told him I wasn’t falling for his trick and hung up.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent claiming to be from the telephone preference service. He said the free service runs out tomorrow and tried to get me to switch to a premium one. I was straight away on edge. He already knew my name and address, but when he realised I wasn't buyin' it, he just hung up. These muppets ain't too smart if they don’t bother to hide their caller ID.

They never mentioned which company they were calling from and wanted to speak to an elderly relative. When I told them they weren’t around, they started asking me questions. It was a bit unsettling because they already had my home address and the names of two older family members. I ended the call straight away because of that. Also, the woman had a heavy accent and got a bit irritated when I asked her to say something again.

I recently received a phone call from this number, where the caller claimed to be representing "UK Household Review." He began firing off a series of questions, but I quickly let him know I wasn't inclined to share any personal information with a company I hadn't heard of before. On the 4th of May, I received a rather suspicious call that supposedly came from TPS. They attempted to verify all sorts of my personal information, even going so far as to ask for the expiry date of my previous card. When they requested details about my new card, I made it quite clear that TPS doesn’t require any card information since their services are completely complimentary. Unsurprisingly, the caller didn’t stick around much longer after that!

Got a call from a guy named Patrick and then some manager called Dan, both speaking with Indian accents, claiming to be from tps dms in London. They asked for my visa card info to check my tps account?? Turns out they weren’t too happy when I told them I wasn’t gonna fall for their scam and wasted their so-called precious time.

They just called my 81 year old mum who’s a bit hard of hearing. They actually knew her name and where she lives. Thankfully, she couldn’t catch everything and mentioned the caller sounded foreign (her words) so she hung up and phoned me all worried. I told her to dial 1471 to grab their number so I could look it up online. Big thanks to everyone who’s shared info here, now I’m sure it wasn’t anything important, just some scummy folks trying to scam an elderly pensioner!

Got a call from someone in India saying they were from Windows tech support or something like that. They kept telling me my computer was full of viruses but it definitely aint. They tried to scare me by saying they could block my PC, so I told them to go ahead on Saturday, yet here I am typing this message on the same laptop they said they blocked.

The phone managment service called saying I was still gettin annoying sales calls. I told him I thought he was one of those. He said he wasn’t. I told him he was and to stop calling me. This was a total scam, they claimed to be from Telephone Preference Management and told me my credit card number was some kind of Reference No. They gave me a website like [#]callblockers[###] which I checked and wasn’t real at all. They said they were from London, but the caller and his ‘manager’ both spoke with strong Indian accents. Proper dodgy lot!

I've got caller ID, so I tend not to pick up, yet these pesky callers keep ringing away! Prior to getting caller ID, I once had an amusing encounter with someone claiming to be from "Windows," saying my computer had some nasty virus. I indulged him for a good five minutes, playing along and feigning surprise at their knowledge about my supposed PC. Eventually, I inquired, "So, how do you manage to do all this?" He proudly announced it was thanks to their cutting-edge software. I couldn't help but chuckle as I replied, "It must be rather advanced if you know all that and yet I'm not even a computer user!" The line went dead abruptly, and I've not been bothered by them since.

Got a call from an Asian woman at about 9:30 in the morning claiming she was from TPS. She told me our service was being updated and asked for my details, even reading out my full name, address, postcode, and how I pay my phone bill. I got a bit wary when she mentioned the last four digits of my card and then asked me to verify the security code. That's when I cut the call off. I informed the caller that I wasn’t keen on their offer, and to my astonishment, he threatened to ring me every hour, even during the night, until I consented to chat with him.
