I received an offer for a complimentary medical pendant, but they requested that I fork out 99p for postage. They also wanted to know my credit card details. Seems a bit dodgy to me!

Like a lot of others here, I’m pretty sure it’s dodgy since I never even bothered calling it back. Definitely feels like a scam to me.

Similar experience here! The caller inquired whether I was over fifty. When I requested him to repeat my name, he just regurgitated his pre-prepared spiel. After that, he simply hung up after saying goodbye. Quite odd, really!

Beware, it’s a SCAM! Make sure you report every scam call or text to the police fraud system. Just search for ‘action fraud’ on Google and head to the ‘police.uk’ website. There’s a section called ‘report a phishing attempt’ - read all the info carefully, then fill out the details of the scam. If you have any links or web addresses related to it, include those too. You don’t need to sign up or give personal info unless you’ve actually lost money to the scam. The police can only get a clear picture of how widespread these scams are if everyone reports them.

I got a call from John trying to sell a free medical alert bracelet. When I told him I didn’t need one but maybe my wife would, he said he'd check with his manager and then just hung up on me. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

I got a call but couldn’t answer, and I’m on the TPS list so it’s clear they’re just guessing numbers. Any business that doesn’t respect the Telephone Preference Service and phones people on it is actually against the rules. From what I’ve read before, these calls seem pretty shady, so my advice is either don’t pick up or just hang up straight away.

Got a call from 01970607738 earlier today, the person said I qualified for some sort of medical alert pendant. Felt like it was some dodgy scam to me.

There’s a couple comments below explaining how to put a stop to these scam calls. It’s a bit of a hassle, but I’ve managed to do it by reporting every dodgy call and text to the police’s online system (I’ve bookmarked the page for quick access). Thing is, it’s going to need loads of people doing the same before any real change kicks in. Loads of folks are flagging scam numbers here daily. My MP did reply, which was nice, but honestly, it’s going to take a whole lot more than just one person raising the issue to make a difference.

Somebody called saying they were from a Medical Alert company and mentioned they worked with nearby health services. Got a call on our office line from some bloke rambling about a medical alert necklace. He wanted me to verify if I was over 50, which I’m not. Plus, it was a business number, so there’s no way he could tell who I really was. When I asked what good it’d do us, he replied it’s because we supposedly live alone. I had to tell him, mate, this is a workplace, not a home. After that, he just said “have a nice day” and got off quick. Totally feels like a dodgy scam.

I had an unsettling experience with a caller who appeared overly interested in whether I required a walking aid or stick. It felt rather suspicious and gave me the impression that they might be preying on those who are more vulnerable. The individual claimed to represent Safe Alert from Oxfordshire, but the number I checked reveals it originated from Aberystwyth. Just a word of warning to everyone - steer clear of these potential scams!

I received a rather dubious call today from a chap sporting a Bristol/South West accent, claiming I was entitled to a complimentary medical alert pendant should I take a tumble and require assistance. When I inquired about how he obtained my landline number, he sidestepped the question rather poorly. I pressed him on whether this was some sort of insurance scam, but he merely stuck to his rehearsed lines. He proceeded to request my age and some rather personal medical information! After I challenged him once more, he seemed to reconsider and abruptly stopped his probing for details. I can assure you, this is clearly a scam - best to hang up immediately and don’t hesitate to mention contacting the police! It’s appalling how these individuals try to manipulate trusting souls, particularly the elderly or those in vulnerable positions. I hope this serves as a warning to anyone who gets a similar call from this number!

I received a call earlier from someone claiming that if you're over 50, you can obtain a complimentary alert system. The chap began to probe me with medical inquiries, with noticeable pauses as if he was jotting things down. Eventually, he inquired whether I’d had any falls lately. Just when he brought up something about payment, I decided it was best to hang up before he could ask for any banking information.

I received a phone call from this number earlier today. The caller inquired if I was over the age of 50, claiming I could receive a complimentary medical alert pendant. When I confirmed, saying, "Yes, I am," he insisted that I repeat my response. At that moment, alarm bells started ringing, as I've read about fraudulent schemes where unscrupulous individuals try to record you saying "Yes" for nefarious purposes. Feeling uneasy, I hung up immediately, suspecting it was a scam. Stay vigilant!

Just received a rather dodgy call from this number not long ago-around 3 in the afternoon. They were telling me that since I’m over 50, I qualified for a complimentary medical alert system. I promptly informed the chap that I wasn’t interested and hung up on him. Honestly, if they really possessed my medical information, surely they’d be aware of my age! It strikes me as yet another one of those scams doing the rounds.

So, I received a rather peculiar phone call from a chap who claimed that my boiler and heating plan had lapsed and that they were ready to sign me up for a new one. This left me rather puzzled since I was under the impression that I didn’t have any kind of plan in the first place! I asked him straight about the name of his company, and instead of responding, he abruptly disconnected the call. Curious as I was, I tried ringing the number back only to be met with a recorded message about medical supplies-quite the switch, I must say! What a strange turn of events!

I was told that I qualify for some sort of medical alert device, but I really don’t think that’s the case. When I asked for clarification on how I was deemed entitled, the person just spoke over me and started demanding personal information. I've noticed a similar experience to what others have mentioned here. They claimed I was eligible for a medical alert pendant, but when I tried to ask some questions, they just kept droning on from their script. It felt like they were talking past me. Proceed with caution, everyone!

I received a rather concerning phone call earlier today, purporting to be from the Medical Alert Monitoring Centre in Dorset. The caller mentioned something about an emergency alert pendant that some unspecified organisation had purportedly informed them I was eligible for. When I inquired as to which organisation had supposedly passed on my details, the caller became evasive and refused to provide any clarity. I subsequently asked to speak with a manager, but he abruptly ended the conversation. A quick search for "Medical Alert Monitoring Centre Dorset" unveiled numerous warnings about potential scams linked to this organisation. To further investigate, I dialled 01970607738, where I was greeted with a recorded message asserting that I had contacted Philitastica Alert Services. I was then prompted to press 2 to speak with an actual representative. Upon connecting, a woman introduced herself as an employee of the Philitastica Market Research Centre. However, she adamantly refused to disclose any information about her company, including their registered office address or any additional specifics. Delving deeper, I discovered that Philitastica operates out of the Philippines and engages in marketing calls on behalf of various entities. Their so-called live chat service appears to be unmanned, suggesting that this could very well be yet another ploy to harvest email addresses for spam purposes. Given that this website indicates that the number is affiliated with Gamma Telecom Holdings, it may be worthwhile to inundate them with complaints regarding the harassment of these calls, as it could yield more fruitful results.
