Phone number ☎️ 01970607717 👆 is reported as an ongoing scam involving calls from a well-spoken male, often claiming to be from a medical alert or health-related organisation. Callers typically state recipients may qualify for a free medical alert device or pendant, then attempt to gather personal details such as age, medical conditions, or contact information. Many note that the calls appear automated or scripted, with some hanging up if challenged or if no information is given. Despite polite delivery, the consensus is that it is a phishing attempt likely aimed at financial fraud or identity theft. The number frequently calls even those registered on the Telephone Preference Service and ex-directory listings. Recipients are advised to avoid engagement and report calls to official fraud authorities.

The person had a clear English accent and sounded quite polished, but I suspected it was some kind of automated message. When I tried asking something, the voice replied with "let me begin again - my name is blah blah blah." They went on to mention that either me or someone living with me might be eligible for a medical alert smart watch that connects to my mobile. I ended the call straight away since it seemed like a total scam to me!

I just saw I had a missed call from this number, dated 9th June 2022 around 4pm, only noticed it today, 11th June. Didn’t get any voicemail or message or anything. Seeing what others have said about this number here, I’m pretty sure it was some sort of scam or dodgy call trying to rip me off.

I got a call from a really polite bloke who sounded genuine, offering an alarm chain for folks over 50 to wear in case of medical emergencies. He said the device itself was free, but there was a yearly membership fee afterwards. When I asked him how I could be sure it wasn’t a scam, he didn’t seem bothered and mentioned a location somewhere down in Southern England - I’ve forgotten exactly where, but it definitely wasn’t Aberystwyth. I said no thanks on principle, and now that I think about that place he named, it probably was a scam anyway.

Just got a call from 01970 607717, bloke sounded alright, quite polite actually. He was going on about some free medical watch and pendant or whatever. Got a call from someone named John claiming to be with Medical Alert. He said their records indicate I might be eligible for a free alert button and asked me to confirm if I’m over 50. I told him if they have my info, they should already know my age, and that I wasn’t sharing any details. He just said thanks for my time and ended the call.

Got a call from someone saying they’re with a medical alert service, going on about how dangerous falls can be, mentioning this "golden hour" where you supposedly need urgent help. They made it sound really scary, like there’s a 30-40% chance you might not survive if you’re not found in time. Then they started asking for medical info and personal details. They kept mentioning helping “pensioners”, but I’m only 50 - not exactly a pensioner yet! Felt a bit dodgy to me.

I received a call from someone claiming to be John, who stated that I could be eligible for a medical alert device; he inquired if I was over the age of 50. I responded with, “I’m not sure who you are!” Following a rather awkward pause, he reiterated his introduction, although it sounded a touch altered, and he threw in some mention of his location-possibly Cornwall, though I have my doubts. He was quite articulate and courteous, lacking the typical insistent sales pitch I often encounter. Nevertheless, I declined and ended the call.

Got a call from someone claiming to be linked with the local health services saying I qualified for some kind of medical alert system. Asked if I could share my info. But when I asked more about him, it was clear he didn’t know anything about me at all. Tried to find out who he really was and he just hung up on me. Happened on 25th April 2022, just before midday.

This bloke claimed he was working with the local health service and that I qualified for a medical alert system. He asked if I could share some info. But when I asked him a few questions, it was obvious he didn’t know who I was or have any clue about me at all. I kept pushing for who he actually was, and then he just hung up on me. Happened on 25/4/22 at about 11:55 in the morning.

Got a call from them recently and it really made me think twice. They claimed it was about some new local advertising magazine launching soon. Honestly, it felt like a front to get my mobile number or email. The minute I said I wasn’t comfortable sharing that info, they just ended the call. Another one of these scammy calls for sure.

Picked up this call and used my better judgement straight away. The caller claimed they were promoting some new local advertising magazine, but honestly, it felt fishy. What they really wanted was my mobile number or email address. As soon as I told them I don’t share my personal details, they just hung up. Definitely another scam attempt!

Got a call from a bloke who spoke really clearly and sounded quite professional, saying I could get a "free medical alert system". When I asked him how he even knew about my health issues or where he got my number from, he just said he’d only just started the job and wasn’t sure, but I could check with his manager. I was polite but told him I’m not a fan of cold calls and said cheerio.

Got a call from a really well-spoken guy trying to sell me a "free medical alert system." When I asked him how he knew about my health issues and where he got my phone number, he just said he was new and didn’t really know, but suggested I speak to his manager. I told him nicely I’m not interested in cold calls and wished him a good day before hanging up.

BEWARE OF SCAMS! If you get any dodgy calls or messages, make sure you report them straight to the police fraud website. Just search for ‘action fraud’ and head over to the ‘police.uk’ page. Find the section about reporting phishing scams and read everything carefully. Then fill in the details about what happened, including any suspicious links or websites. You don’t have to sign up for anything and they won’t ask for your personal info unless you’ve actually lost money. The only way the police can keep track of these scammers is if we all report every single attempt.

Got a call out of the blue from someone saying my health was at risk, some sort of urgent medical warning. sounded dodgy right from the start like a scam trying to freak me out. I just hung up straight away, no way I’m falling for those fake health scare calls. Be careful folks, these medical alert scams are all over the place now.

I received a rather concerning call from someone who alleged they possessed vital medical information suggesting I required a medical alert system. Mind you, I'm on the Telephone Preference Service list, so I find such interruptions quite unsettling. Definitely not a conversation I was expecting!

I received a call from someone claiming to be ‘John’ representing the ‘Medical Alert Centre’. As soon as I heard that, I promptly ended the conversation. Clearly, it’s yet another scam attempt. Plus, I’m on the Telephone Preference Service list, so they shouldn’t be contacting me at all!

I've just received a similar call myself. When we mentioned we weren't familiar with their identity, the caller promptly hung up.

Received a rather dubious call claiming I was eligible for a medical alert device. Upon questioning the caller about how they obtained my number, particularly since I doubted my eligibility, they promptly ended the call. While they may just be another telemarketer, I've categorised this encounter as 'scam or fraud' - mainly because I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service and I find it hard to believe they had access to my age or health details.

I received a call claiming that I qualified for some sort of medical alert device, which strikes me as rather strange since I’m in good health and work full-time on the frontlines of the NHS. Seems a bit dodgy to me-it’s likely some kind of scam!

Just like before - I was after additional details to determine if I was eligible for some dodgy Medical Alert scheme. It’s such a shame these individuals can’t seem to find something genuinely beneficial to contribute to society...

Claimed to be 'John' from the Medical Alert Centre, and mentioned I could receive a complimentary assessment. I decided to end the call prematurely. I've come across several articles indicating this could be a phishing scheme or related to credit card fraud.
