When I asked who was on the line, there was nothing but silence. I tried once more, saying "don't you know?" and then some woman yelled that I didn’t know who I was and just hung up. The noise in the background sounded like some busy call centre. Really strange and frustrating.

A woman called asking about my life insurance, said she was from Aviva. I figured it was a scam because I don’t have any insurance with them, plus she called me by a name I only used once ages ago on a dodgy website. Probably best not to give out your real name online if you wanna avoid these dodgy callers.

There was a pause, then an Asian guy asked for my husband by his name, I told him he wasn’t available on this line. He claimed he was from Life Assurance and said some company had set aside over 3 grand for my husband. I told him we’re registered with TPS and he shouldn’t be calling us. He apologised and asked if I had another number where he could reach my husband. I made it clear NO, we weren’t interested in getting involved with his scam or putting anything in writing. I’m pretty sure we won’t be getting any letter or cheque anytime soon. NOT.

I got a call from a lady with an accent that sounded quite foreign, asking for someone with my surname but a different first name. This is like the fourth time this has happened, though I don’t know the numbers the other calls came from. Whenever I ask if she’s sure about the first name, she always insists she’s got it right.
