Picked up the phone and some asian woman asks if she’s speaking to me but totally butchered my name. I asked who she was but got silence for a while. So I said either talk or hang up. She replies in a really thick accent “why would I ever hang up when I’m the one calling you”. She then says she wouldn’t be rude enough to interrupt me but I told her I could be equally rude and just ended the call. Blocked her number after that.

Life insurance review. The caller spoke with a thick Asian accent, and there were loads of noisy call centre voices in the background, making it tricky to catch everything. I let him go on for a bit before saying I wasn’t interested and hung up. I blocked the number straight away like I always do with calls like this. Glad I did after reading these comments. Seems like a scam to me.

"The Life Insurance Review" wouldn't say how they obtained my details. When I pushed for an answer, they said it might take 7-14 days to figure it out, so I asked them to check and get back to me, then ended the call. A bloke called 'David Parker' kept asking why I didnt have it, so I asked him who was supposed to hold my policy since he claimed to have my details. He completely ignored me and just repeated the question about why I hadn’t taken out life cover. I kept trying to get an answer from him, but he just kept talking over me, pretty rude too. After a few more rounds of this, he just hung up when he saw I wasn’t budging. Would say steer clear of them.

When I probed him about which specific company held my policy, he couldn’t provide a clear answer, merely stating that my number must have been included in their records with my prior approval. I pressed him on where they’d sourced my mobile number, but he was quite clueless on that front. I demanded he delete my information from their records, firmly stating that this was an unlawful cold call. I didn't allow the conversation to go any further. Generally, I only seem to get calls from marketing firms, but it wouldn’t surprise me if, with the ongoing pandemic, the scammers have decided to shift their focus to life insurance now!
