Got a call from a lady with an Asian accent who somehow knew my name. She said I’d won a holiday worth up to £5000 but needed to pay a £101 fee for paperwork. She wanted my online banking info to take the money directly. When I said no thanks, she started swearing, claiming she had every detail about me and would be sending taxis and pizzas my way. I just told her that actually sounds great since I was about to head out and might be hungry! 😮

I received a call from this number earlier. I’m based in Cornwall and told them I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service. They promptly ended the call after that.

I went through pretty much the same thing as loads of others - some bloke called "Daniel" kept rambling on about different life insurance firms and their policies. I just went along with it and kinda enjoyed confusing him with stuff I knew. To me, any cold caller is always a bit sketchy and risky.

Got a call today asking about my life insurance and listed about 10 different companies, trying to check my payments. I played along for a bit, then they tried to hand me over to someone else who said they were from Easy Quote. I hung up straight away cos I could tell it was dodgy from the start - first caller had an Asian accent and even called herself Amy!

Had about three calls today from some insurance lot, saying I absolutely MUST get covered. Told them I’m not interested in life insurance since I’m basically unkillable. They kept going on anyway. After telling them to sod off the first two times, I finally lost it and blared a party whistle right into the phone on the third. Pretty sure they won’t bother me again anytime soon.

Got a sales call pretending to be a life insurance check-up. When I questioned him, he started making rude comments about my age. Age discrimination is totally against the Equality Act 2010. He kept talking over me and acting all superior. Honestly, how are cold calls still allowed? It feels completely unfair.

Got a call about insurance, total pain. I quickly told them I wasn’t bothered but the person just kept going, cutting me off and asking stuff like ‘do you have home insurance? life insurance?’ and ‘what insurances do you have?’ Ended up just blocking the number.

I just blocked it cos Google flagged it as spam. When will these firms be shut down and fined properly? If you do pick up, just say your number’s involved in a police probe and ask for their company name. They usually hang up quick. Or just tell them to “buzz off” - works just as well from what I’ve found.

Since the call came from a nearby number, I picked up. A person said they were from Royal Sun Life, Aviva, and another company, asking about any life insurance I supposedly had with them. I pretended to be puzzled, which is my usual move, especially since I don’t have any life insurance. They soon gave up.

It's frustrating, as I'm already on the official list to reduce such calls, but I still seem to be bombarded with numerous silent ones that just hang up. What’s the deal with that?

I noticed I had a missed call while I was out, and although it went straight to voicemail, no message was left. It seems I’m not alone in this, as I’ve read similar experiences. Even though I’m registered with the telephone preference service, I’m still inundated with a barrage of silent calls where no one bothers to leave a message. Quite frustrating, really!
