Phone number ☎️ 01822300017 👆 is reported as a persistent scam operation frequently impersonating well-known UK telecom and retail brands like O2, Sky, Curry’s, and Carphone Warehouse. Callers often have strong foreign accents and use aggressive tactics to extract personal details or payment information, such as one-time passcodes. Many recipients report silent calls, abrupt hang-ups, or bizarre, inappropriate comments. Attempts to engage often lead to repeated calls and harassment despite refusals and blocking. Users advise extreme caution, never providing personal or financial data, and strongly recommend reporting such calls to official fraud authorities. Most likely a dodgy operation.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent who said he was from Sky, telling me my internet was running slow. I decided to pretend I didn’t really know what he was on about to drag the call out. When he rang again after our call got cut off, he asked me what was showing on my screen. I told him I was just trying to find the number he’d used so I could ring back. After that, he seemed to lose interest and gave up.

A chap with an Indian twang rang me up, saying he was from Sky, and that my internet was crawling. Decided to play the part of the clueless fool in an attempt to stretch out the conversation. When the line dropped and they rang again, I feigned confusion and replied to their "what's on your screen?" query with, "I’m just looking up your number so I can ring you back." This seemed to throw them off completely, and they eventually lost interest!

Some bloke rang me about my computer, seemed dodgy from the start. I told him I wasn’t interested, but no sooner had I hung up than he was on the phone again a minute later, asking why I cut him off. I just switched my phone off after that to be safe.

Honestly, I could barely catch what he was saying because of his really thick foreign accent, but I think he mentioned O2 or something. When I told him I’m on the TPS list and asked why he was calling me, he just quickly put the phone down.

For the person who mentioned the police aren’t aware how bad this is - trust me, they know allright but ain’t doing much about it. That’s why we should all be reporting these calls more, to push the goverment into actually doing something. These scammers need real punishments before they’ll quit.

Just a bit lower there are a couple of posts explaining how to actually fight back against these scams and why just blocking the calls isn’t really a fix. Taking a minute to report them is no harder than sharing your experience here. It’s true, change won’t be instant but right now the police haven’t a clue how bad this problem really is or about the newest tricks these scammers are using. If folks don’t start reporting these calls and complaining to their MPs, these crooks will keep getting away with it while nothing gets done.

Got a call from some bloke with an Indian or Asian accent who said he could help reduce our mobile contract costs with BT/EE. Barely had he started before he was telling me my voice was "adorable" and suddenly saying he was in love and wanted to marry me! Then went on about being single and keen to date me, just needed my full name and contact info. Proper rude and totally inappropriate!
