That call was rather abrupt, and they disconnected without so much as a word. Quite impolite if you ask me!

Tried calling back but no answer.

My phone flagged it as spam straight away. I wouldn’t pick up, better just block the number after. They might have loads of numbers to try, but still worth blocking them out and reporting like some have said here.

Got a call from someone claiming to be an Indian lady from O2 saying she could lower my monthly bill. She said her supervisor would handle everything. I ended the call but she rang me back twice in just a few seconds. I've blocked the number now.

Blocking dodgy numbers doesn’t do much, as these scam crews just keep ringing from endless fake numbers made by computers. I’ve shared info below, along with what you actually gotta do if you’re serious about getting these calls to quit.

Sorry, this is a no go for me. I’m not interested in chatting. Please don’t call again. Cheers.

This bloke rang up claiming he was with O2 and offering a 30% cut on my monthly bill 'cause of covid. He said he'd send me a couple of texts. When I told him I wasn't fussed since my bill's already quite cheap, he just hung up. Pretty sure it was a scam.

I told them straight up I wasn’t gonna reply to any texts or share any details, but said it was fine for them to keep talking if they thought it’d help. After I kept repeating that I wouldn’t answer or provide info, they eventually just gave up and left me alone.

Some bloke called claiming he was with O2, said he’d send me a couple of texts to get a half price deal on my phone bill. I held on for a bit then told him I wasn’t actually an O2 customer, and he just cut me off...

Total scam, honestly. They kept cutting the call off, so I wouldn’t bother picking up or ringing back. Just ignore it.

Just a couple of comments down will show you ways to help put an end to these scams and why just blocking numbers isn't really effective. Taking a moment to report these calls takes about the same time as sharing on here. It won't fix things overnight, but right now the coppers haven’t a clue how widespread these frauds are or what the newest scams look like. If we all don’t bother to report and raise a stink with our MPs, these crooks will keep getting away with it.

I got a call claiming to be from O2’s promo team, but you could tell it was just some overseas call centre. They were trying to sell me a discount on my monthly bill, but quickly started pushing for this one-time security code that it clearly states you should NEVER share with anyone - even O2 themselves! They kept going on and on about why they needed the code to apply the discount, and insisted the warning was about people who might call after. I played along for about 10 minutes before they finally gave up and hung up.
