So, this bloke rang me up and asked if I was [my name], then went on to ask if I’d received a call the day before about crime prevention in my street. I told him I hadn’t heard a thing. He sounded American, which was odd. I tried asking him where he was from and if he lived in my area, and then suddenly he just hung up on me. The number he was calling from was 01704 524264. Honestly, it all felt pretty dodgy to me.

Got a call earlier today and they actually used my name. The person claimed to be with some crime and safety awareness team. I asked where they got my number from and they said it's from some database. Thing is, this phone line's only been active for about three weeks, it’s ex-directory, and we haven’t shared this number with anyone, only BT knows it.

I always find these random calls really sketchy! Just blocked the number straight away.

Got a call today from someone claiming to be with some ‘crime and safety awareness campaign’. They called me by my name, so I thought it was legit. When I told them I’m on the TPS list and asked if that mattered, they said no it didn’t. Then I tried to find out exactly which organisation they were with and, well, they just ended the call on me. Bit suspicious if you ask me.

Phone rang while we were gone but no voicemail was left. From what I’ve seen in other comments, it might be some kind of sales call or scam, which we ain’t interested in. So, we’ve gone ahead and blocked the number.

I answered and asked who was calling, but a woman just said bye and then ended the call straight away. I reckon they were just seeing if someone would pick up.

Someone rang me up and used my name straight away, going on about being from the area crime coordinator or something like that, asked if I knew them. I told them to hang on and asked who they were working for. Next thing, they just ended the call. Definitely felt dodgy.
