It took a few seconds to pick up, so probably an overseas call pretending to be from Southport. The person called me by my first name, claimed they had details about my life insurance needing checking, said they were from Legal and General, and asked if I smoked. I replied 'just send me an email, I don’t deal with cold calls on my mobile' and then they ended the call.

Got a call from an Asian guy who used my maiden name, sounded pretty rude too. He started going on about some life insurance with Legal and General, which I've never had. "is this mr john?" i say "no." then they ask "who am i talking to?" with an asian accent. i say "doesn't bloody matter, you've got the wrong number, bye." dunno what they're tryna sell cause they never actually say, i think they just want my name or summat. i get about 4 of these calls daily, each time from a different number. oh well.

Phone rang but stopped just as I was about to answer. No voicemail left, so figured it was probably just another telemarketer.

The bloke had worked out my first name but was really slow and seemed a bit out of it. After a bit of pressing, he finally said he was calling from Life Insurance. He sounded totally zoned out. I asked if he’d been drinking and he just said he was knackered. Told him I was tied up at work, all he said was ‘oh’ and then went quiet. Could hear the usual call centre background noise but who’s to say. Just a waste of time. Blocked.

I got 2 voicemails left, first one was empty, the second sounded like someone was making a coffee or something - like a lid dropping and stuff. I only picked up cause it was a Southport number. First call was some life insurance review lot, with loads of noise in the background. Got a bit harsh when I told them I’d just got a policy and it wasn’t up for review yet. Then the second call was supposedly from the bank fraud team about suspicious activity on my account. I told them it was strange cos they’d just called me 10 minutes earlier about life insurance. Then she just hung up.

Got a call from a girl who sounded Malaysian, probably some insurance scam, really sketchy. Are these kinds of calls not illegal? I was driving at the time, so the moment she said insurance I ended the call. Had handsfree on in the car.

They said they were insurance brokers - judging by their accents, I reckon they're based in South Africa. They claimed to have my number on some life insurance list, which is definitely not correct. Seems like they claim to be calling for UK Providers, but won't say which ones - total red flag right there. Then they start pushing life insurance stuff. Always hangs up on me after a bit. They really should find real jobs instead of hassling people and trying to scam. The ICO and courts ought to crack down on them for blatantly ignoring the TPS list. I never opted in for daily calls, it’s so annoying, plus they keep switching phone numbers. No idea how they get hold of your details in the first place.
