They asserted they were part of a security firm operating locally, have ties with the police, and are officially registered as a limited company. However, when I requested the name of the company to verify their credentials through the police, they abruptly hung up on me!

someone called me going on about this crime prevention thing happening nearby, but i said i wasn't aware of any and then they just hung up. i probably shouldn't have told them my name right away, that was a dumb move on my part.
