Got a call from a Welsh call centre about PPI - it went straight to voicemail. The bloke left a brief message and then it switched over to some John Cleese sounding recorded voicemail saying something like 'I mentioned I might have a PPI claim', which is why they’re ringing. I definitely haven’t - so I’ve blocked the number.

I'm absolutely exasperated by these persistent phone calls! I've been bombarded four times this afternoon alone. Honestly, these call centres should be shut down; they're intruding on our privacy and causing nothing but annoyance. I never pick up for numbers I don't recognise, so I'm utterly perplexed as to why they keep trying. The Telephone Preference Service seems utterly ineffectual-I'm regretting ever signing up, as the barrage of calls doesn’t seem to diminish, despite all my complaints. Is there any alternative way to block a landline, aside from simply disconnecting it? I’m seriously considering that option, but with elderly parents around, I’m hesitant to go that route.
