I just had a chat with someone called "Alexandre White" who claimed that Mark Bradford was messing about on my computer. It all sounded pretty legit at first, but then she said she could show me exactly when he did it, where he lived, and the thing that really made me suspicious was when she said she could send me a picture of him! Definitely a scam if you ask me.

Got a call from an unfamiliar number saying they were from BY and that our internet would be disconnected in thirty minutes. I didn’t hang around to hear more but asked for their number, and it matched this one. How come a number used by scammers like this isn’t blocked?

Exactly the same nonsense - a bloke called 'Harry'. I’d been having issues with my BT line and was waiting for a call, so when my family member handed me the phone thinking it was from BT, this guy tried twice to get me to download some app to access my laptop. I wrote down his number, ended the call, and flagged it to BT. Total scammers!

I got a call from an Asian guy calling himself "Mark Bradford" saying our broadband was about to be cut off because there was some dodgy activity on our homehub. He gave me a BT ID number and a number for their call centre, but when I said I’d check if he was legit, he told me to call him back on his mobile and warned that if we hung up the landline, our internet would get disconnected - then he just hung up. We checked with BT Support and they confirmed it was a scam, no plans to disconnect anything. Stay alert! Don’t share your info!!

Some bloke named John rang our home phone sayin he could sort out hackers messing with my internet. Felt fishy, so I asked for a contact number to check him out. Switched straight to a fella who said he was from BT, no automated menu, just a person to confirm it. Turns out it’s a con!!! Dont hand over any info to them.

I got a call from a guy called Harry with an Asian accent. He said my internet issues had been fixed but wanted to check everything was working ok. After a few tests, he mentioned my connection was a bit slow and offered to fix it for free. Since I was having issues anyway, I let him access my computer. After about 30 minutes of working on it, he sorted out the problems and now my internet is actually faster than before. There might be loads of folks called Harry out there. Number was [01618186978]

This morning, quite unexpectedly, I had a telephone conversation on our BT landline regarding some supposed hacking of our BT internet - apparently, it seemed others were gaining access to it at that very moment! This immediately set off alarm bells in my head, so I questioned how I could ascertain that the caller was genuinely from BT. The chap on the other end, speaking with a thick accent that became increasingly hard to decipher as he grew more flustered, urged me to ring back on my mobile at 01618186978, introducing himself as Sean Davies with a BT ID of D902952. If we take that at face value, then I must be Tinkerbell! Naturally, I reached out to BT to verify if that number belonged to any of their call centres up in Manchester. Surprise, surprise - it wasn’t one of theirs at all. To top it off, the number didn’t even register on our phone; it merely displayed ‘International’ which is precisely what it was.

Just like the first comment here, I got a call from someone named John Abraham claiming to be from BT Support, number 01618186978. Since I’m currently sorting out a hacked BT account, I let him access my PC. I didn’t provide all the info he asked for, and then he suddenly ended the call. After that, my computer started acting up and eventually crashed. Feeling really daft about it now. Anyone got suggestions on what I should do next?

Got a call today from someone calling himself “Harry” claiming to be from BT Tech Support, spouting the usual nonsense about installing a device to boost my internet speed and all that. Thing is, he had no clue I’ve been in IT for over 20 years, spending the last decade trying to improve broadband quality right here in West Wales. I’m very well aware of how rubbish the BT network really is. Honestly, their call centre and the way the whole outfit is run are exactly why I’ve cut all ties with BT at home.

Got a call about 1pm from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming to be John Abraham from BT internet. He said there's some problems with my connection and that it’s being used by foreign ISPs, told me to stay online with him to sort it out. I asked where he was calling from and he said Manchester with a staff ID DS19475. Then he gave me a number to ring. Looked it up here and guess what, another scam!

Today at around 1:15 pm, I got a call from someone with an Indian accent saying my internet was going to be disconnected. I asked for his name and guess what? He said John Carter (like the movie, right?). The number he gave was 01618187090. I rang Virgin afterward and they told me it was definitely a scam.

Got a call from 01618186978 around 11:18 this morning. The guy said his name was David Parker, but he couldn’t even spell it right and sounded like he was from India. He said he was ringing from BT and warned that our internet had been hacked for two weeks and would be cut off. I played along and noted down all the info he gave, and he told me I could verify it by calling the number he provided. It’s definitely a scam! Don’t ever share your info with these lot, they’re just out to hack you if you’re not paying attention!

Spoke with an Indian accent, called himself Saun Davies (apparently BT gave him that name since his real Indian name was too difficult). He already knew my name and that I was with Sky, but claimed BT was sorting out hacking attempts and if I stayed at my computer he could prove he was legit! He rattled off some license number meant to prove he was with BT and gave a phone number as “proof”. I played along for ages before finally telling him to get lost. The cheek of these scammers!

Alexandre White - A woman with an Asian accent called, claiming Mark Bradford was attempting to get into my computer. She asked me to get my computer and have pen and paper ready. I just pretended to be on my pc while she instructed me what to type. She also gave me an 0800 number to ring, saying it was their main office in Manchester! After a bit I got bored and ended the call. This was the second call in about 10 minutes!! The number she gave me was: 0800 800 400

Got a call from a young woman, had that call centre background noise. She never asked me for any security details, but said 'someone else was using my line which made the internet slow'. Then asked if I could go to my laptop. I stalled and said 'I’m busy now, can you give me a number to call back on?' She gave me an 0161 number. Later I looked it up, just like others here said, it’s a scam. Really appreciate this site for helping honest people spot these dodgy calls.

My missus got a call from a bloke saying he was with BT, telling her to get on her laptop. He even gave a name and some employee number. Rang BT straight away and they said it’s a total scam. I got a call from 01159406088, the guy said his name was David Parker, sounded Indian but spoke English. Same story as loads of others have said here. He threatened that BT would cut my phone off right away if I didn’t follow his instructions. He told me to call back on 01618186978. When I asked for a proper address, he just hung up. Some guy rang me claiming to be from BT, had an Asian accent but said his name was Sean White, which sounds off to me. He gave me an employee ID and told me to ring 0161 818 6978 to verify him. PLEASE AVOID CALLING those numbers, it's obviously dodgy. He was pretty persuasive, saying someone was unlawfully using my broadband and even mentioned my local exchange by name. He claimed engineers were already on it to boost my broadband security. Then he wanted me to do stuff on my computer to fix the issue.

Got an email from someone named Alex Ibrahim. Before that, I had a call from people with an Indian accent claiming there was unauthorised use of our internet. I asked how I could be sure it was legit and he said he’d send an email from his manager.

Had the same thing happen to me, thankfully I picked up instead of my mum who’s more at risk. The caller ID showed 01511 but then they asked me to ring back on 0161 818 6975. I told them I didn’t trust it and just ended the call. According to BT’s site, they only use 0800 numbers, so this was obviously a load of nonsense.

Indeed, I've been inundated with calls from this number lately. Now, I simply tell them to hang on a moment and then leave my phone in the kitchen, going about my business. Alternatively, I might ask them to stay on the line while I entertain myself with a tune on the piano, only to return once I hear the line go dead. It's quite amusing!

Just like others have said - I got an Asian woman who handed me over to some bloke called Mark Bradford, she reckoned she was from BT and said people were using my internet without permission. I told her I only use a Mac, no PC, and she told me to open 'terminal' in the Spotlight search! Didn’t feel right so I just ended the call there.

Got a call from a bloke who said his name was Alexander and he was with Sky. He told me he'd been informed about the nuisance calls I’ve been getting and even mentioned which bank I’m with, which sounded dodgy to me. Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent saying she was from BT, trying to 'protect' my internet. Felt dodgy straight away, so I asked her for a number to ring back and she gave me this one. She also mentioned some Customer License ID thing, probably so it sounded legit, and said she’d do some process to stop outsiders messing with my connection. i got a call from a young guy who sounded indian. he said his name was alexander white and claimed he was a senior manager at bt. he told me my broadband speeds were slow because others were using my line. he mentioned a mark bradford and another name i can’t remember. i told him i thought it was a scam, but he kept saying he worked for bt and gave me the number 0161 8186978 to call back. i quickly looked it up online and saw loads of people had checked that number already. this is definitely a scam. don’t give them any details or ring that number!

I've had quite the experience today! I received a call (April 1st, no less) from someone claiming to be part of BT's technical support team, supposedly helping resolve a problem with my internet connection. Mind you, I haven't been with BT in ages, yet they seemed to know all about it. Things took a dodgy turn when they insisted I download TeamViewer, which would have allowed them to remotely access my computer. Both BT and EE have confirmed it's a scam, but these persistent callers just won't take the hint. They've bombarded me with eight calls in under an hour! What a nuisance!
