The caller introduced herself as being from British Telecom, which struck me as a bit odd since those in the know usually just refer to it as BT. Having spent a fair bit of time there myself, I found it rather disingenuous. The first person I spoke to handed me over to a supervisor who, I must admit, had a much clearer command of English. When I inquired about their department, she nonchalantly replied, “The Broadband Department.” Quite curious, I thought!
