I got a couple of missed calls and called back without thinking much. Some bloke with an Asian accent picked up and claimed to be from HMRC. He started talking about my taxes and said I owed money, which felt really dodgy. I ended the call straight away and added the number to my block list.

Some bloke rang me saying he was from the 'Road Traffic Department' trying to sound all official. After I asked a few questions about it, he claimed they had info about someone at my phone number's address being in a car crash in the past couple of years. He asked, "Is that right?" I told him if he really worked for the Road Traffic Department, he’d already know whether it was true or not. (Nobody here has had any accident.) Then he just hung up. Proper ambulance chaser scammers!

Received a dodgy call earlier, sounded like a foreign chap with a thick accent, claiming to be from some car accident company. The line was absolutely awful, full of echo and crackling, which pointed to it not being a local number out of Manchester at all. Definitely a scam operation from some overseas call centre!

Received a call from a rather quiet chap, sounds Asian, insisting I had been involved in some sort of accident. It's usually around the time frame of eleven in the morning to about half past twelve. Quite peculiar, really!

Keep getting calls everyday round 12:30, they never really say anything, just quiet and then hang up. Today 05/04/2017, they rang and said I needed some help with my computer. I told them it was a bother and that I’d be reporting the number, then ended the call. They phoned back claiming my computer was getting hacked from abroad and told me to check my screen, which I just pretended to do. They asked me to press some keys but I didn’t bother. I said my computer had frozen, even though it hadn’t. Then they said I should buy a new one and just hung up.

Really grateful for this website and the Call Guardian app I got - those scammy calls from India hate getting blocked, so their numbers just end up marked with a big red cross in my call history every day. Honestly, BT need to just block this number from their end. As for TPS and ICO, it’s like they’re useless, more like teapot and chocolate. Got a call from someone claiming the motor accident bureau gave them info about my accident and that I could claim compensation. When I asked for the when, where, why and how, he just went quiet. Then I asked if he really has my details, why on earth is he even calling me?

Replyin to the last person: just bc your number shows as 'hidden' doesn’t mean you’ll get no calls. It simply means your number’s masked! But usually when you see that, it’s a sign the caller might be using some sort of auto dialler or a random number generator thingy, which scammers love to use.

Someone rang saying they were from an accident helpline, claiming either me or someone in my house had been in a car crash, which isn’t true at all. I kept pressing to know where they got that info from, then they said they were from the MIB, motor incident bureau. When I told them I hadn’t been in any accident, they just ended the call.
