A while ago I used the free O2 wifi at O’Neill's, and it happened again when I popped into Costa. I didn’t give my real name though, and this call came through using that fake name, so it’s obvious that’s how they got it. I’m not keen on them ringing me, but it’s pretty clear these calls are actually coming from O2.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent, saying he was from O2. I’m not even an O2 customer! He kept going on, saying I didn’t have time, but just wouldn’t stop. Ended up blocking the number, I’d recommend you do the same!

Got a call from a lady claiming I signed up for free O2 WiFi at Costa and that they had my phone number, saying I agreed to be contacted for a survey. I said I was tied up, and she said she’d call back later. Then she phoned again at 6pm from a different number since I’d blocked the first. Didn’t pick up the second time and blocked that number too. Seriously, don’t pick up these calls!

Got two calls from this number but couldn’t pick up. Had a look at the reviews and it seems a lot of people had similar experiences. I’d recently been on O2 wifi at a pub, so I’m guessing that’s how they got me. Blocking it now.

I always block spam calls straight away. These telemarketers are so persistent. Even after blocking, I kept getting voicemails. One was from a noisy place, with a woman saying “helloooo... since you’re not answering, I’m ending the call”. She sounded a bit frustrated. I’ve only picked up once, hung up quick, then blocked the number. It’s weird for a “professional firm” to leave such a voicemail. Just block them, they’ll give up eventually.

I've been getting calls from this number ever since I signed up to use O2 wifi at Costa, which matches what others have said here. I don't think it's a scam exactly, but it looks like when you use free wifi, you probably end up handing over your info to O2, and now they're ringing to try and sell you stuff.

Got a call while I was on the train, the bloke said he’d grabbed my info from some free WiFi at a McDonald's and gave me a date - I can't recall if it was correct or not. He kept saying my name at the end of every sentence, like he was a bit jittery or something. Asked about how much data, minutes, and texts I’ve got on my plan, but I hung up there since I was about to get off the train and frankly, it just felt a bit sketchy.

Some lady rang saying she was from my mobile company - O2. I told her I’m not with O2, but she kept insisting I was. I told her she’s got it wrong and then she just ended the call. This has happened before too, and when I asked where they got my info from, they said it was because I’d used WiFi at places like McDonalds.

Thing is, I’ve never been to Argos, but the Asda next door does free wifi. definitely a scam, ive never even had 02 before and some woman called saying there were special deals for me. i played along just to see how far she’d go. i told her i’m on pay as you go and put like £122 on every week, and that i only get 500mb data, 100 mins and 50 texts just to mess with them. honestly just keep going if they ring you again.
