Normally, if it’s a genuine person and not some scammer, they’ll try ringing again if you don’t pick up the first time. I ignored this number about an hour ago and no one’s rung me back since, so I reckon it’s safe to say it’s probably just a cold call. Loads of others here seem to say the same thing. Yeah, got the usual line. They claimed to be from O2, I was actually connected to McDonald's WiFi and they asked if I was over 18. I told them my dad deals with the phone payments, kind of anxious to see if they try calling him now - bit unsettling if they do.

If you do answer and find out they’re scammers, have a bit of fun confusing them - they usually add you to their no-call list if you’re a pain, since most scammers do that.

0161 9547532 called me, asking for someone I handed over the phone too. After about 51 seconds of back and forth trying to confirm the name, the line went dead. We defo need to block this number and report it to the proper people. I looked it up and it says Manchester, but the voice sounded foreign.

Got a call from some random Manchester number. They asked my kid straight up for bank details! Luckily, my kid understands Spanish. When the phone rang, he answered with "Hello," and they said, "Could you give us your bank info?" So he switched to Spanish and said, "¿Hablas español?" It was hilarious! We’ve blocked that number now. Honestly, playing along like that is the quickest way to make them hang up. Give it a go if they ring you! :)

Some bloke called me knowing my name and said I’d just used an O2 hotspot at PureGym (he kept talking while I was still there). Got a call from someone named 'Serget' (or something close) on an 02 number. He asked if i could hear him and knew my first name. Told him i don't deal with 02 and ended the call. He’s tried a few times lately. When i called back, a message said "you were contacted today by 02, no need to worry and we’ll try calling again. To talk to someone, press 1, or press 2 to stop future calls." Obviously i didn’t press any number.
