Today, I had a rather peculiar phone call from a woman I’ve never met. She was quite insistent on convincing me to file a dubious injury claim. She waved around the prospect of earning a small fortune, but it was clear she had some underhanded agenda.

Definitely a SCAM. Someone pretending to be from an insurance company - said they were calling for Aviva. The call came from a number very much like one I’d blocked before. They even rang on Christmas Day, using a unique number only a handful of close family know, which is why I picked up, thinking it was a relative from Glasgow (it was a Glasgow number). They even addressed me by name, so it feels like the scammers are somehow getting info straight from EE. Proper worrying stuff.

I got loads of calls on Christmas, which was already annoying enough. I told them to take my number off their list, but they called me again about an hour later. This time, they were threatening me, saying I'd have to pay legal fees for my claim if I didn’t play ball. Absolutely shocking behaviour - who even are these people? Proper disgusting.

SCAM alert. Got a call about some insurance claim, said they were from Aviva. The number was suspiciously close to one I already blocked. They hit me up on Christmas Day using a private number only known to a handful of close family, so I thought it was a relative from Glasgow ringing. They even knew my name, so it looks like they’re somehow getting the details straight from EE. Proper concerning stuff.

What a dreadful experience! I received a call purporting to be from Aviva regarding an insurance claim, but it was clearly a scam. They contacted me from a number suspiciously akin to one I had already blocked before. To make matters worse, they chose to ring me on Christmas Day, using a special number I reserve for only my close family. Naturally, I picked up thinking it might be a relative from Glasgow - who wouldn't? The fact they knew my name raises all sorts of red flags. Makes you wonder how they’re obtaining these details, possibly through EE. Quite unsettling, really.

Received a barrage of calls on Christmas Day, which is frankly beyond unacceptable. This is the third time I've had a call from an 0141 number with pretty much the same story. They’ve rang me three times over the last few weeks. Don’t pick up if you see this number or anything like it - they’re just trying to scam you out of your details, pretending there’s been some accident you never actually had.

I wanted to double check my credit before calling back because some dodgy numbers don’t use free minutes but still charge a good bit, like 40p or more. Tried calling the number again, but it just rang out and then cut off. Had a look at my phone balance after and luckily no money had been deducted. So, I went ahead and blocked the number.

I blocked and reported that number since it had the same area code, seems like they're switching numbers to try and trick folks. I’m not sure exactly, but since you can track the number back to somewhere near central Glasgow, close to the Station, I wonder why the police don’t crack down on these scam calls. They’ve been at it for years, so surely some folks are getting scammed. Often it sounds like someone from India, though sometimes they fake a British accent. You can usually spot them by the weird pause and click right at the start. If they ask, "Is this (your name)?", don’t give them any info - just say it’s a wrong number and hang up straight away.

So, I got a call from this company named Auto Assist. They do have a website but it's currently being updated or something. Anyway, they mentioned they work with some shady-sounding insurance firm called ‘United Kingdom Insurance Group’. They said they gather basic info from folks who’ve been in car crashes. Thing is, I’ve never been in any accident nor gave them any personal info. Feels kinda dodgy if you ask me.

I got a call again from some company in Glasgow asking me the exact same things. I don’t know why they keep bothering me. They’re not getting any info from me, so I just told them to buzz off. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number and wiped it from my phone. They mentioned a car accident, which is rubbish - I’ve not been in one.

I really regret picking up this number. As soon as I figured out it was someone trying to sell me stuff, I just cut the call off. From now on, I’m not gonna pick up any calls from numbers I don’t know, and I’d tell others to do the same. If it’s important, like from a relative or something, they’ll leave a voicemail or message. Best to ignore these kind of calls altogether.
