Got a call from someone saying they were from auto assist, kept mentioning a “bump” on my car. They wanted my name and number, said they’d report me to the information commission because I’m on the telephone preference service. When I told her that was inappropriate, she got really defensive and argued it wasn’t illegal or a cold call. I told her she was mistaken, and the arguing got worse. I then asked for her supervisor’s name to make a complaint, but she just hung up. I ended up reporting the whole thing on the ICO’s site.

No voicemail left. I tried to ring back but my call was rejected, probably because they hid their number. The first seven digits matched two calls I got last month from people pretending to be about a car crash. Blocked the number straight away.

I just ignore any call from numbers starting with 0141 769 and block them straight away. It’s really annoying and feels like harassment.
