Got a call saying it was about a car accident from a while back. I knew it was dodgy since I haven’t been in any accident, so I asked when it happened. Kept asking and then total silence. ‭0131 204 8711‬ rang me on my mobile at 10:49 on 25/1/21. It shows as an Edinburgh number but I don’t know anyone from there! I didn’t pick up. If I don’t know the number, I just ignore it. Genuine callers tend to leave a voicemail anyway. If not, I search the number online to check if others have had contact from them. From what I find, I normally end up blocking the number. Cheers to everyone who shares their stories about these calls.

This number rang me twice yesterday. First time, it was a woman with a really strong accent checking my name. I told her I don't share personal info and ended the call. Then, a few hours later, the same number called again, but it was a bloke, also with a thick accent, claiming he was from telephone preference service and asked if I was getting annoying calls. I told him I was actually on the line with one right now, from that very number. He said I'd not finished some verification and that he'd keep calling until I did. So, I just hung up and blocked the number.

In the span of just three days, my phone has rung seven times from this number. Curiously, on one occasion, I picked up, and a lady asked for my name before launching into a pitch about needing a call blocker. I informed her that I already had one in place, then promptly ended the call. Truth be told, I could use a more effective blocker to fend off unwanted nuisances like her! Got a call today around 3.30 from a bloke with an Asian accent who said his name was Gavin (!). He claimed to be from Telephone Preference Service and asked for my bank card expiry date. He even called me by my last name and got my postcode right. Definitely a scam, so I told him to do one and hung up. The same number tried again just a couple of minutes later. For nearly an hour, this bloke kept ringing me up non-stop. It was always the same voice, but each time he used a different name and tried to get me to hand over my bank info. Proper dodgy if you ask me!
