The number showed up as being from Bishops Stortford on my phone. The guy on the other end claimed he was calling from O2 and wanted to offer me a 30% cut on my phone plan. I told him straight away I was a bit wary about the call, and then he passed me over to another person who went over the same discount pitch. When I asked why I was even being offered a reduction, they said it was because O2 had loads of complaints, so they were giving 'selected customers' a deal; apparently, I didn’t need to share any personal info, and they’d just send me a couple of texts. That’s when I’d had enough messing about and told them to get lost before hanging up.

Kept him talking for a bit just to waste his time so he wouldn’t bother someone else. After a while, he just gave up and ended the call.
