01279906016 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 01279906016 👆 is reported as a persistent nuisance scam involving callers impersonating reputable companies like O2, Carphone Warehouse, and the Post Office. Callers often use foreign accents, particularly Indian, and employ tactics such as requesting security codes, offering fake deals, or remaining silent. Many recipients report hang-ups shortly after answering or no messages left, suggesting attempts to confirm active numbers for further exploitation. It is commonly associated with fraudulent activity and possible financial risk if returning calls. Blocking the number and avoiding engagement is advised. Genuine organisations typically do not operate in this manner, and verifying information independently is crucial to avoid scams. Registration with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) does not always prevent these calls. Exercise caution, refrain from sharing personal information, and do not respond to suspicious messages or requests.

Somebody rang me pretending to be from O2 and said they had a special offer or discount. Felt a bit dodgy if you ask me.

Got a voicemail from someone saying they were from the National Crime Agency, but they mentioned they wouldn’t be working because of the bank holiday. I looked them up on their official site and saw loads of people reporting similar scam calls. Be careful, it’s probably a trick.

So this caller said it was from benefits UK, said they’d only ask me 3 questions and then they'd stop calling. Funny thing is, she didn’t even get a single question out before hanging up.

I foolishly picked up the phone for RV Communications, only to be met with nothing but silence on the other end. What a waste of time!

Got a call from some bloke called Jackson claiming he was ringing from Curry’s with a deal. Sounded like it was coming from one of those Indian call centres. Told him I wasn’t interested and just ended the call.

I received a text on my phone from what appeared to be the Post Office about a parcel. I decided to block the number and remove it from my messages.

The voice on the phone seemed like it was coming from a call centre, maybe with an Indian accent, and I could barely make out what they were saying. They mentioned something related to a phone, I guess. I ended the call quickly - I'm convinced the number wasn’t genuinely from Bishops Stortford and it was likely a scam.

My work phone rang and showed a Bishop Stortford number, which immediately made me suspicious since I’ve never done business there. Looks like a classic scam. Definitely avoid calling them back, or you might end up with some huge charges.

I opted not to pick up when that call came through on my mobile. Out of curiosity, I decided to ring the number back using my landline, making sure to withhold my caller ID. To my surprise, I was greeted by a recorded message identifying the caller as "RB Communications," along with an email address for those wishing to unsubscribe from any future marketing communications. The moment I caught wind of that, I promptly ended the call. No way am I sending them an email! I did some digging online to find an RB Communications, but to my dismay, they don't seem to be based in Bishops Stortford, and I can't shake the feeling it's unrelated to my initial call. By the way, I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service, just to keep the nuisance calls at bay.

Absolutely dreadful call! They claimed to be from O2, but I rang up O2 directly for confirmation since that's who I have my contract with, and they hadn’t a clue about this number or any associated company. What a con! Best to BLOCK them!

There was a tremendous amount of ambient sound, and I could barely discern what the caller was saying. I believe he mentioned he was with O2, but I suspect that’s not true at all. I ended the call and swiftly blocked the number.

Heads up - I got a call from someone claiming to be O2, but their English was really rough and they kept calling me "Ma'am". While on the call, I got a phone alert saying I'd asked for a security code. The caller then asked me to share that code, which seemed off. The message warned not to give out the code to anyone calling and to just hang up, so I did. Just be careful out there!
