I received a rather dubious call claiming I was owed a refund from Microsoft. My phone indicated the call was coming from Bishop's Stortford, yet the voices I heard were clearly from an Indian call centre. There were a multitude of other conversations echoing in the background-it seemed like they were using some kind of clever phone software to mask their real location. When they urged me to fire up my computer to facilitate this alleged £400 refund, I firmly responded that I shouldn’t need to access my device for them to transfer funds. They insisted it had to be processed through their system online, implying I had to log into my account for them to confirm the transaction. I made it clear that I would never grant anyone access to my online banking information, and to my surprise, they abruptly hung up. It’s alarming how these individuals are intent on draining your bank account!
