I had a phone call from someone claiming to be with Virgin Media, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that it was a bit dodgy. They were offering me a whopping 40% discount, which seemed a bit too good to be true. I requested that they email me the details, which they should already have on file. To be on the safe side, I decided to look up the number to verify its authenticity, and I’ll also give Virgin a bell to find out if they recognise this number at all.

Someone really should step up and deal with these scam calls, they hit the vulnerable worst and sadly some people fall for them. I've listed below a few steps on how you can report them. I asked quite a few probing questions myself, but unless a good number of our MPs get bombarded, I doubt much will change. Also, don’t forget to report each scam call onto the police’s online system - it’s quick to do and I keep that link bookmarked for ease.

Usually I avoid picking up scam calls, but since I’m close to the 01279 area, I thought it might be from a local shop I was waiting to hear from. The caller said it was a ‘promotional call’, but I wasn’t having any of it and said no thanks. Then he tried to get my email, which was an immediate red flag. The call came through via Bluetooth while I was driving, and honestly his accent was so heavy and he spoke way too fast, I couldn’t even tell who he was meant to be. Definitely blocked after that.
