Got a call from a bloke with a funny accent asking if I was home, so I said no. He started talking about some sort of home appliance insurance, and I just told him I wasn’t falling for that nonsense. Told him straight up, "You lot are probably from one of those call centres abroad" and cut him off. Then he rang straight back asking, "Do I sound like I’m from an Indian call centre, ma’am?" I just hung up on him again. Honestly, better to just say "wrong number" and ditch these lot.

Someone rang claiming they were from some home care service, even knew my name and where I live. They said it was about our washing machine. I told them they’d called us ages ago and we told them to stop. They insisted they hadn’t phoned before. I asked them what company they were with, and they couldn't answer. So, I just ended the call and felt relieved I did.

A lady rang claiming to be from Sky about renewing a warranty for their equipment. She actually used my name during the call and said she’d send me the new policy after taking payment. Thing is, I’ve never signed up for anything with Sky, so I’m not on any of their documents. I said I wasn’t interested in dealing with cold callers or third-party scams, and that we only contact Sky directly, thanks. Then she tried a different name, asking when she could speak to them. I said she couldn’t and she ended the call.

I told her it was rubbish, then she said she needed to check their records and hung up. I only picked up because the number was from my local area.

BEWARE OF THIS GUY - HE HARASSES ELDERLY FOLKS: Someone pretending to be from 'The Home Planning Department' called a family member of mine and asked for bank details, which they unfortunately gave. He was demanding a sum of £500. After seeing the number on their caller ID (01273 655236, found using 1471) I tried calling back, but the line just says 'number not in service’ now. This bloke rang up 4 times over just a couple of days. Very unsettling behaviour towards vulnerable people.

Felt like a scam to me, just a complete waste of time. If you’re looking this number up, you probably already sense it’s dodgy. It’s really the people who aren’t suspicious that end up getting tricked by these horrible scammers.
