Got a call from someone who wouldn’t tell me who they were when I asked, so I just hung up and blocked the number.

Got a call from some 'Domestic Appliances' outfit saying they were in Brighton, trying to renew a direct debit for extended warranties on my kitchen gear. Thing is, I've never taken out any of those policies before. When I questioned the bloke, he stayed calm and claimed there was already a direct debit in place and that he'd just send the paperwork to confirm and carry on with the payment using the bank details they supposedly had. Smelled fishy to me - obvious scam just fishing for my bank info.

Non stop ringing every 5 minutes, it was driving me insane. I finally picked up and the other end just went quiet then ended the call. Proper annoying!

It’s really concerning how they have all my details like my full name and postcode. I warned the caller that I’d be reporting them to the police, and she just dropped the call. They seriously need to crack down on this sort of thing, especially since it could affect more vulnerable people.

Got a call from a bloke claiming to be about the insurance on one of my household appliances, said I pay monthly. He seemed to have some details but insisted I had to update my direct debit because the insurance premium was supposedly going down. Then I was transferred to a different number where they asked for my visa card info - which I don't carry. I declined to give it. I mentioned the card number started with a 4, just like all my family’s visa cards - not exactly a byzantine secret. Both numbers turned out to be fake, so I’ve blocked them now. Bit unsettling, really.

Just like some others have said, she had my full name, address and postcode and claimed she was from Domestic Appliance Insurance about my warranty. I told her to send me something in writing and then ended the call. Seems like a total scam to me. I can imagine this being really frightening for older folks or anyone who doesn’t know about sites like this.
