I received a rather unusual phone call today from a chap who had a distinct foreign lilt to his voice, perhaps Indian or from Pakistan. He inquired whether I'd like to extend the warranty on my washing machine. I’m quite certain this is nothing more than a scam.

Wasn’t at home when this number tried to get hold of me on 03/11/2020. Later saw some messages from them and decided to block the number altogether.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from a busy office, talking about insurance for my dishwasher and washing machine. He told me I’d get a letter in a few days about it, but then tried to get my bank VISA card details that were apparently used for the policy three years ago. It felt odd, so I asked why he needed my card info now when the letter would have all that. He kept pushing for the details anyway, so I just hung up.

Just like the others, they were pushing a 45% discount because supposedly there were no call-out charges. They claimed their company works with my bank and that I'd get a call from them. When I mentioned my payments are done through Direct Debit and would update automatically, he insisted I had to arrange a completely new one. Seriously, don’t hand over any bank info to these lot. Lucky I decided to look up the number here first - definitely not as daft as they must have assumed!

These guys say they’re from Domestic & General and offering a discount, but it’s a total rip-off. I called up D&G directly and they told me it was a scam, then I reported it to them. Domestic & General were really supportive about the whole thing. They sound quite genuine, but they’re just after your bank info and trying to make you pay on the spot. Watch out, people!

She kept trying to keep me interested by mentioning a “special discount” I supposedly qualified for. BEWARE - it’s a scam where they’re just trying to get your bank details to con you. Just so you know, none of my stuff was even under warranty, and the cooker’s about 20 years old!
