I've got to say, I'm utterly baffled by this mysterious caller! An overseas chap rang me up, claiming my washing machine's warranty had lapsed and wanted to know if I fancied extending it. The truth is, I've never even had a warranty for it in the first place! I made it clear that I wasn't keen on his pitch, but he was rather tenacious, bless him. Well, I held my ground just as firmly!

Got a call this afternoon around half three from a woman claiming my Domestic and General home insurance was up for renewal. She said she could offer me a big discount if I sorted it online straight away. I asked her which specific appliances she was talking about. What really freaked me out was that she correctly named all the stuff I’ve got covered with Domestic and General, even how old each item is. I’m baffled how she learnt that since I always pay through direct debit and my policy runs till January. I told her she had the wrong info and ended the call.

Got a call from a bloke with a British accent saying he was from domestic appliance care. He said they were about to send a renewal notice for insurance on some home appliances. When I asked which ones, he mentioned washing machine, oven and fridge. Thing is, we don’t have insurance for any of these. Told him to remove our number from their list and then I ended the call.

Got a call from a guy claiming to be with Premium Protection Insurance. He was asking if I wanted to sign up for another year or three. I asked him which insurance company he was actually calling about, but he told me I’d been their customer for eight years. I wasn’t convinced, so after I pressed him a bit more, he seemed irritated and just hung up on me.

Got a call from some bloke with an American accent who seemed to know a bit about me, trying to convince me to renew my washing machine insurance. Totally a scam if you ask me. Got a call from this number but no one spoke. After seeing what others said, I'm actually relieved it stayed quiet. Honestly, people need to just stop bothering us. Today alone, I've had three calls from different numbers like this. Feels like these scam folks pick out some people and bombard them all in one go. Got a call today around 3.45pm from a woman with a typical English accent. She said she was checking on the warranty for my washing machine. When I asked where she had my phone number, she replied that they partner directly with the manufacturers. Then I asked her which brand my washing machine was, and she said Hotpoint. I told her that’s odd because mine’s actually a Bosch! After that, she just ended the call straight away!

Got a call from someone with a bit of an Indian accent, saying they were from some “domestic appliance centre.” They claimed my fridge freezer and washing machine policies had just run out. It all sounded pretty convincing at first, but I don’t actually have any policies like that. They even mentioned my address, which was weird. I told them I had no such policies, but then they tried to see if maybe my husband had switched it to my son’s name or something. Felt like they were just trying to fish for info.

Got a call today just before noon from 01273655228. The bloke on the other end, called Danny, was asking about an insurance renewal for a fridge and washing machine, supposedly for a family member who's actually passed away. We dont have any insurance on those appliances at all. When I asked where he got our number from, he just said "it's in the system". Told him to take our details off and ended the call. This is the second time they've phoned us now.
