Got a call from a bloke pushing insurance for home appliances. Weirdly said he was from North London, even tho the number had a Brighton area code. Totally felt like a con. I asked him what bus he caught to get to work and which tube station was closest. He got proper grumpy and wouldn't say. Definitely dodgy.

I just had a rather odd experience with the number 01273655225 today, 27th October 2020. When I picked up the phone, there was a complete silence on the other end, and then they abruptly hung up. We’ve no contacts that we recognise with that number, and upon a little investigation online, it seems to be linked to Brighton - quite a distance away from where we reside! We strictly don’t entertain calls from unfamiliar numbers, so I’m going to add this one to BT CallProtect and forget about it!

Got a call telling me my washing machine’s warranty was about to expire and they had this great offer for a 5-year plan. I told them that’s odd since my machine’s barely 2 months old and I already have an extended warranty. Told em to buzz off after that.

Got a call from a bloke claiming to be from "Domestic Appliances" wanting me to shell out £195 for a 3-year extended warranty on my washer. Sounds like a total rip-off to me.

They tried to get me to agree and pay upfront for 3 years’ cover, two paid plus a free one, but when I asked for the paperwork, they were oddly reluctant to send it. Seems like a total scam!

I told him a few times that we already have cover with a different company. After a bit, he just goes, "Alright then, no worries." Ended the call pretty sharpish. Got a phone call today from some bloke named ‘Simon’ who spoke with a strong Indian accent. He was going on about insurance for my washing machine, saying it had just expired last week. Problem is, I never even signed up for any insurance on my appliances! Decided to play along for a while, just to mess around and kill some time. Pretty clear this is a dodgy scam, so my advice is don’t hand over any personal info or agree to buy anything from these jokers.

I got a call around 2.54pm from a bloke with an English accent asking for me. I told him she wasn’t here, so he said he’d try again later. If it’s about washing machine insurance, I bought one from Currys just over a year ago, so obviously someone’s passed my number around. Honestly, the machine’s not worth insuring - the cost of insurance is almost the same as what I paid for it!

Got a call from a bloke named Simon who claimed Domestic & General had passed my file on because I hadn’t claimed for my kitchen gadgets in over 6 months. His accent was pretty thick. He tried shifting me onto a 3-year contract, which I declined. Then he pushed for me to stick with the usual 1 year. I already have a direct debit setup with D&G, so it’s all sorted. When he asked if he could ring back, I told him no, I’d get in touch if I wanted. Definitely felt like some kind of scam.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Domestic and General, asking for my debit card info to supposedly renew my appliance insurance. Thing is, my payments are all done via direct debit anyway.
