I got a call from a woman claiming to be from some kind of boiler and heating insurance outfit based in Brighton. She wouldn't say the exact company name clearly and asked for me by my full name. The number showed up as Brighton, but I’m not convinced it actually was. She insisted her system said I hadn't made any claims in the past year. When I asked how she knew that and whether I had any account with them, she just ignored my questions and kept pushing. I ended the call straight away and blocked the number. Definitely seems like a scam to me, so watch out!

Some guy rang me claiming to be from Domestic Appliances or something like that - couldn’t quite catch the full name. Just got a call from a really polite guy, sounded quite friendly, saying he could add an extra year to my appliance warranty which had 2 years left. He actually knew my name and where I live. Then he tried to rush me into paying with my usual debit card, asking me to confirm the expiry date and all that. I didn’t hang around and ended the call straight away. It all seemed pretty convincing, and I bet loads of people might get caught out by this kind of trick.
