I told them I wasn’t interested and hung up right away. Then they called back and started chatting about the cover again. Got called by a guy who said his name was David from Golden Egg, sounded like he was Indian. He claimed I was tagged as having the priciest electricity supplier. I asked him to name my actual provider cos I wanted to see if he really knew or was just bluffing about the highest rates. I also mentioned the noise in the background suggested his call centre was really busy. He laughed and said he was based in Brighton. Right, a busy call centre in lockdown? Nah, didn’t add up, and then he just hung up on me. Total scammer.

So this person told me that Ofgen had passed on my name and number, and they claimed my bills could go down if I switched to a supplier closer to me, cause then the energy wouldn’t have to be transported such a long way. They reckoned if I stuck with Scottish Power, my gas and electricity would actually be coming all the way from Spain, making it much pricier. Honestly, some folks might fall for that, but it’s total nonsense.
