Had some annoying calls during lunch today. I answer and say hi, but no reply, then they hang up straight away. I’ve now put the number on my phone’s block list. Really wish they’d just quit with this nonsense. How come BT even hands out these UK numbers to dodgy callers? My provider, Sky, says BT makes a ton of cash selling them to scammers. What’s the point of the Telephone Preference Service then? And Ofcom - shouldn’t they actually step in and sort this out? They seem totally useless. It’s honestly so frustrating.

I got a call from someone talking about a washing machine at some other address. When I told them they’d rung the wrong number, they just hung up straight away. After looking it up online, I realised it was probably a scam.

Got a call from some warranty firm trying to tell me my Hotpoint washing machine warranty was nearly up. When I asked them to say exactly which brand and model they meant, they just started listing off every washing machine brand you can buy in the UK, claiming they're all part of Hotpoint. Seemed totally dodgy to me.

Got a call from some bloke abroad acting all matey. Like the rest, he claimed my washing machine warranty had run out. He rambled a bunch of nonsense and kept cutting me off. I told him my bank actually covers the machine, which they do. He sounded caught off guard and ended the call sharpish. Just another dodgy scammer trying his luck.

I told the bloke I didn’t have any policy with them but he just kept pushing, saying I did and it had to be sorted. In the end, I just hung up because he wouldn’t listen. I’m signed up with the TPS, so not sure how he even got through. That number should be blocked before someone ends up getting scammed out of their money.
