This number rang me earlier, but luckily my Call Guardian caught it straight away. I looked it up on this site and sure enough, it’s dodgy, so I’ve blocked it now. Honestly, I really recommend getting a Call Guardian or some kind of Call Blocker. Legit calls usually leave a voicemail or tell you who they are anyway, so you don’t miss out. Blocking those spam calls is a game changer. Best decision I’ve made!

Got a call from an automated voice, sounded like a well-spoken bloke from the South East, saying my BT contract was ending soon. Didn’t hang around and blocked the number straight away using my CPR call blocker.

Somebody rang me pretending to be from the company that insures my home stuff. They tried to get me to pay for the whole year upfront with a big discount instead of monthly. Seemed fishy, even though they said all the usual things since most people insure stuff in their homes. I’ve blocked the number now. Definitely a scam, and a risky one too since they’re clearly after your bank and card info.

Got a call from 01273655045, nice sounding bloke saying my kitchen stuff insurance needed sorting. I said, "Kitchen stuff? What appliances you on about?" He said fridge-freezer and cooker. So I replied, "Doesn’t sound right, we never got any insurance on those old, second hand bits!" He then changed tack, saying it was only the freezer. "Which freezer do you mean?" I asked. "The chest freezer, ma'am," he says. I told him that’s funny, because I don’t own a chest freezer at all. Finished up by telling him it’s pretty shabby trying to mess with people like that.

Someone rang me up and asked straight for me by name. I tried to find out who it was, but the line got cut off. A few weeks back, a different number from Looe did something similar, although they didn’t mention my name that time. Funny thing is, these calls nearly always come through around lunchtime.

I got a call from someone saying they were from the renewal team at Domestic & General, the people who cover kitchen stuff and the like. They told me since I hadn’t made any claims on my policy over the last year, they’d offer me a discount for the coming 12 months. I didn’t share any personal details, but I do have a policy with them that’s about to expire. Not 100% sure if this call was genuine or a scam.

He claimed to be ringing from 'domestic appliance insurance' trying to sell me extended cover for my washing machine and fridge freezer. Got a call earlier, some bloke claiming to be from a firm that can sort out your telly for a single fee. They called themselves something like TV Guard or maybe TV God, I couldn't quite catch it. I joked back, asking if next they’d want to know the brand and year of the set. Told him it was ancient, near 60 years old, made by Philco-Zenith. Dead silence on the other end! Then he asked for my bank info. I said I use Northern Rock - told him it’s long gone. He sounded proper annoyed. So I told him to put the money in my piggy bank and hung up.

Got a call about renewing the warranty for my washing machine, spent almost 10 minutes making them try to convince me it was worth it. I kept saying it’d be cheaper just to get a new one anyway. Eventually, I let slip a ‘secret’ that I’d actually given away that machine over a year ago when I moved and now have a brand new one.
