Got a call on my landline from someone acting like it was me, using my number. The message had my voice but sounded really strange and unnerving. Feels like they might be gearing up to try a scam.

I received a call from someone alleging that my insurance for appliances with Domestic and General had run out. The funny thing is, I don’t even have a policy with them!

Got a call from 01273655021 today, and I’d steer clear if I were you. They kept trying to get me to give them my banking info, saying it was about some white goods insurance with a 35% off deal. Mentioned a company called Domestic & Electric or something like that. Total scam, don’t even bother talking to them!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Domestic & General saying it’s time to renew with a 35% discount, asked for my bank info to “update their records.” I instantly felt something was fishy and told them to call back another time. Pretty sure they’re in for a rude awakening. Watch out for this number 01273 655021, it’s definitely a scam, UK, Bradford area.

Got a call from someone saying they were with a UK home appliance insurance company. They sounded exactly like the bloke who rang me last week pretending to be from Domestic and General. Really persistent and wouldn't really answer when I asked questions, made me quite suspicious.

I received a call purporting to be from Domestic and General about my direct debits. However, the information they provided was quite misleading. They were pressuring me to settle an annual fee in advance in order to supposedly qualify for a discount.

About a couple of hours back, I got a call from a number starting with 01273, which is Brighton’s code, but then the rest of the digits changed. These dodgy warranty sellers have been pestering me for years, trying to sell fake appliance warranties. Over the past two years, I’ve ended up blocking probably 20 different numbers like that. Now, if I spot that 01273 prefix, I just don’t bother answering. Really, when will the Government step in and deal with these scams properly? It’s just blatant fraud and these scammers deserve to be behind bars. Such crooks!

He claimed to be from Domestic Insurance, but that sounded wrong. He told me my appliances were all replaced and that I was getting a 35% discount, but the account was actually under my husband's name. I told him he was trying to scam me and said I was going to hang up.

Got a call about renewing some white goods insurance, but it definitely felt dodgy. You could hear loads of noise like a busy call centre behind the person. Strange thing was, the caller had an accent that seemed a bit Dutch or Scandinavian, which was a bit of a change from the regular Johnny Gupta-Singh types I usually get.

This is the fifth time in as many days I've got a silent call - it's really getting on my nerves. After checking out what others have said, i'm convinced it's just one of the loads of scams going about at the moment. I've tried blocking the numbers but they always call back from different ones. At one point they even rang me from my own number, which was pretty sneaky.

I received a rather suspicious call purporting to be from D&G Insurance, which supposedly covers Hotpoint, Whirlpool, and a few others. Initially, everything appeared above board, but then a chap started probing into my bank details, claiming I was eligible for a 30% discount due to the lack of callouts on my account - which is completely false. At that point, I decided to hang up. They phoned again shortly after, but when I picked up, there was silence on the line, and they didn’t bother leaving a message on my answering machine. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

I got a call from someone saying my washing machine’s warranty ran out on 15 July and tried to sell me a new one. Funny thing is, I just got a brand new machine that's still covered by the original manufacturer’s guarantee. I didn’t give them any other info, just said the warranty date wasn’t right. The person hung up straight away. These types of calls have been coming through quite a lot recently, all from numbers linked to Brighton. It’s a bit worrying, because I reckon they’re targeting older folks who might end up paying for a warranty that doesn’t really help them.
