Got a call from someone saying they were from British Gas, or maybe Eon, trying to sell me some kind of appliance insurance - the classic scam stuff really. They haven’t tried the loft insulation pitch on me though! I’m registered with TPS, so they’re definitely ignoring GDPR rules here.

Be warned, these are scammers for sure - I keep reporting every time I get a random call like this. Don't ever respond if you get a call from someone you don't know, most of the time it’s just fraud or some phishing attempt trying to get your details. Better safe than sorry!

Yeah, these lot are proper scammers. They keep switching up their rubbish stories every time they ring. Honestly, they have no clue about me or my location, just keep asking for info to trick people into signing up for rubbish. They clearly know what they’re up to and couldn’t care less. Got a call from a young Asian woman claiming to be from my home appliance insurance company. She mentioned I’m currently paying £45 a month by direct debit and offered to lower it. The weird thing is, the address she mentioned belonged to my old tenant who’s long gone. Definitely a scam. This place is full of people trying to rip off honest businesses. She kept calling and bothering me for more than an hour straight. When she rang back later, I just ignored it. Honestly, the government does nothing to stop these scams.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent claiming to be from British Gas meter reading team, with loads of noise in the background. He started firing off questions about our company account. When I asked him to verify my account number, he couldn’t do it and just kept saying he was from the meter reading side so didn’t have that info. This sort of scam call is something we get all the time. I left him waiting on hold for nearly 20 minutes before he finally hung up... NEVER share your account details with these types!

Got a call from some Indian bloke named Harry claiming there was an issue with my British Gas account. He said he was from the meter reading team. Told him to wait and left him on hold for about 10 minutes. Then, he kept calling back like six more times, and every time I put him on hold again. Total scam to grab your account info. We always get a proper meter reader in person. Be careful, it’s definitely a con - don’t get caught out!

SCAM alert - Pretending to be from British Gas or SSE. They kept pushing for our account details, even though we told them they must already have it since they claimed to be calling from British Gas. As soon as we started asking questions, they were quick to hang up. The same woman rang our office twice, each time pretending to be from a different company. When she was confronted and asked if she’d just called claiming to be someone else, she didn’t reply and just ended the call.

This afternoon at half past four, my phone rang from this particular number. A gentleman with a pronounced Indian accent claimed to be representing Royal Mail and requested my email address. So, I suggested he send me a letter detailing his intentions instead. After that, I terminated the call.

I had exactly the same experience. I provided all my banking information, and they rejected it outright. They kept cutting the call short on me, which was incredibly frustrating. Seriously, don’t share any of your personal details with them! I've had to reach out to the fraud prevention unit, and they informed me that these scammers exploit your banking information through specific networks, like O2, for example. They create multiple contracts under different names and send devices straight to your address, promising you'll receive the phone as soon as you reach out to resolve the issue. There are numerous individuals engaging in this sort of deceitful behaviour, so I'd strongly recommend getting in touch with your bank if you've shared any information with them.
