I received a rather unexpected phone call from a woman whose accent was rather thick with an Indian lilt. She mentioned the company she was representing, but I had to ask her to repeat it no less than four times before I managed to decipher that she was saying, “I’m calling from Curry’s mobile, how are you?” Naturally, my curiosity was piqued, and I inquired about the reason behind her call. She proceeded to tell me that she wished to present me with the latest and greatest mobile phones available. I informed her that my number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service, or whatever they call themselves these days, at which point she promptly terminated the call. Normally, I’m quite reluctant to engage with unknown callers, yet for some odd reason, I felt compelled to pick up this time. Nonetheless, I've made sure to block their number now!

I've received two voicemails now claiming that my IP address has been breached, and they offer to rectify it for no charge-naturally, they want me to press one for a so-called technician. I didn’t pick up at all, though it showed up as an international number on my display twice. The first time I didn’t know who it was so I just hung up. Since then, they’ve called three more times - two times no-one picked up, and once I just let it ring out. This guy called saying he was from TPS, trying to sign me up. He knew my surname but got my address and postcode all wrong. He even asked me to tell him the right details so he could fix it. The line kept dropping out and was really bad quality. Once I told him it sounded dodgy, he got really mad and wanted to know why I thought it was a scam. I told him I’d already signed up with TPS before. Then he just hung up on me.
