I received a call from a robotic voice purporting to be from HM Revenue and Customs. They stated that I was under suspicion for tax fraud and told me to press 1 to connect with my assigned case officer. They even went so far as to threaten legal repercussions if I failed to comply with their instructions.

Just to follow up on what I posted last night about my mother-in-law, I got in touch with the bank’s fraud department today. Turns out someone tried to set up a direct debit from her account yesterday, so the bank stopped it straight away and are looking into it now. I also reached out to the TPS because this caller was pretending to be from them, but all I got was a standard response saying it wasn’t their problem or anything to do with them!
