I received a rather alarming call claiming that my bank card had been charged £300 and then again for £1000 overseas due to dubious transactions. They prompted me to press 1 to speak with their representatives. Honestly, how on earth do these scammers manage to obtain our mobile numbers? It's a complete fraud! My bank would never reach out in such a manner, and if they did, I certainly wouldn’t be speaking to a robot. It's all rather ridiculous!

It's increasingly common for overseas callers to disguise their numbers, making them appear as if they're from the UK. You can usually spot these scams by the tell-tale pause after you say hello before they respond. A significant number seem to originate from Kolkata, particularly around Sector 5 in Salt Lake, and I’ve found that mentioning this often leads them to abruptly end the call - sometimes with a bit of colourful language, I must say. If you’re curious about how these scams operate, there’s a wealth of informative videos and even some live demonstrations available. Thanks to this exposure, several call centres have faced closure, and some so-called money mules have been apprehended. However, as long as these activities persist, it's clear that our telecom providers need to step up their game to find a way to block these nuisances effectively.

I got a call from someone with a foreign accent claiming my Amazon Prime had been compromised and that loads of money was being taken from my linked account. He asked me to confirm my name, age, address, and bank details to prove I was the owner. Luckily, my wife grabbed the phone off me and hung up before I gave anything away. If it’s a scam, it’s a clever one and pretty scary because I was about to spill my info. Turns out, there was no unauthorised activity on my Amazon account after all! Absolute scammers!

Had this call from some folks at what sounded like a UK number, but turns out it was a dodgy call centre in India. They tried the classic Amazon Prime scam, saying my account was at risk. When I asked them who they wanted to talk to by name, they just cut me off. These scammers are just waiting for someone to slip up, hoping they can trick an Amazon customer. After dealing with this nonsense, I’ve decided never to give Amazon a penny of my hard earned cash or sign up for their service. Not worth the hassle at all.
