Loads of these calls come from abroad but make it look like they're ringing from a UK number, which is pretty sneaky. You can usually tell something's off if there's a weird pause after you say hello before they reply. A fair few seem to be coming out of Kulkata, Sector 5, Salt Lake. If you bring this up, they often just hang up or even shout at you. There’s plenty of videos online showing how these scams work, some even live streams, which has helped get a few call centres shut down and money mules caught. Sadly, these calls won’t completely go away until the phone providers figure out a solid way to block them.

I got a call from someone with a foreign accent claiming my Amazon Prime had been compromised and that loads of money was being taken from my linked account. He asked me to confirm my name, age, address, and bank details to prove I was the owner. Luckily, my wife grabbed the phone off me and hung up before I gave anything away. If it’s a scam, it’s a clever one and pretty scary because I was about to spill my info. Turns out, there was no unauthorised activity on my Amazon account after all! Absolute scammers!

Had this call from some folks at what sounded like a UK number, but turns out it was a dodgy call centre in India. They tried the classic Amazon Prime scam, saying my account was at risk. When I asked them who they wanted to talk to by name, they just cut me off. These scammers are just waiting for someone to slip up, hoping they can trick an Amazon customer.
