It seems I've been hounded by someone trying to peddle insurance. I've realised that they're sourcing their information from surveys-not from Hotpoint directly. I had a bit of fun and fibbed on one of those surveys, claiming I had a Hotpoint washing machine. And wouldn’t you know it, I started receiving calls about my warranty expiring! It's amusing how clueless some of these folks can be. I do this intentionally to separate the genuine calls from the fraudulent ones. Do be cautious and block their numbers; never divulge any genuine information!

BEWARE OF PHONE SCAMMERS! Make sure you report any dodgy calls or texts straight to the police fraud website. Just search for ‘action fraud’ and head over to the police.uk page. Find the ‘report a phishing attempt’ section and go through all the instructions. Then put in all the details about the scam, including any links or web addresses. You don’t need to sign up or give personal info unless you’ve actually lost cash. Reporting every suspicious call is the best way to help the police keep track and fight these fraudsters.

Two comments below explain what you need to do to end all these scam calls. It does require some effort, but I’ve done it and keep reporting scam calls and texts to the police database (I even bookmarked the link). Sadly, it’s gonna need thousands of people doing this for any real change, but loads of folks report scams here every day. I heard back from my MP, which was quite something, but honestly, it’ll take way more than one person asking before anything actually changes.

Called this number and got a recorded message saying “This is LCHI, press this if you don't want any more calls” or something like that. The voice was a bloke with a Brummie accent. Seems like a total scam with all the different business names mentioned in the comments.

Somebody couldnt figure out how to use their phone, so I tried helping out like tech support. Got cursed at and then they just hung up on me. If ya ring them back, they've got this option to say “don’t call me again.” Guess we’ll find out if they just sell your number to every scammer website for a month and then claim they did nothing wrong, or if they’re a legit company who follow Ofcom rules (yeah right, like that’s gonna happen).
