I had a call from this number today, claiming that I've come back from a country on the red list and am required to isolate myself and take a test. Shortly after, I received a message in French that included a code. Quite baffling!

We got a text from 88866 but didn’t even bother opening it since we’d had issues with them in the past. A while ago, my husband spotted that £5 was being taken every month from his phone bill for this number. Took ages to get it sorted and stop the charges. Honestly, they’re just rip-off artists.

There's this chap who persistently rings me, claiming he wishes to send a cheque for £9,000 to my husband. I keep telling him, "Absolutely not! You're just angling for me to fork out some cash first." Without fail, he turns quite aggressive whenever I respond like that, which is pretty much every single time he calls. It’s deeply unsettling, to say the least, as it feels like I'm trapped in a never-ending loop of his calls.

I've also received a call from this number. Could anyone shed some light on their origin? I'd like to know where they're based so they can be addressed appropriately.

They were attempting to convince me that the government had stashed away £9,000 for me. In order to access these funds, they insisted I purchase a prepaid card worth £250 for some sort of processing fee.

I received a rather dubious call from someone claiming to represent the government, saying they were going to send me a cheque for a whopping £9,000 just for completing a survey. I decided to hang up straight away.

We've observed that our phone bills have been rather inflated over the last three months. Upon investigation, we discovered that a number, 88866, was hitting us with a charge of £1.50 for each text. After some digging on the internet, we came across a site that advised sending a text with the word 'QUIT ALL' to stop the charges. We followed this advice, and shortly after, we received a message saying they were saddened to see us go, but they would indeed terminate the service.

We've experienced the same issue, and honestly, I've no idea what that 88866 number refers to. But it’s drained our finances substantially... so much, in fact, it’s becoming quite unbearable! Could really do without this. Please, just make it stop!

We’ve received a text from this number, and now it appears we’re being billed £1.50 a month for it, or the same amount to opt out. Honestly, we haven’t the foggiest idea who these people are. All we want is for this to cease immediately!

Initially, this appeared to be a run-of-the-mill website offering a chance to enter a competition for a potential iPod prize. Intrigued, we went ahead and provided all of our information. Not long after, we received a text message asking us to confirm our phone number. It instructed us to send a reply of "Yes" to 88866, which we complied with. However, since then, we’ve been inundated with relentless messages that seem intent on squeezing money out of us. What a nuisance!

Hi there! Just wondering if you ever received that phone you were meant to win. It’s quite frustrating, isn’t it? We were promised an Apple Mac and a phone too, but not a single item has showed up. I completely understand where you’re coming from!

It seems I've been bombarded with incessant messages from gmag-now.co.uk. They've included a helpline number, 03447451791, but I'm utterly baffled as to how I've caught their eye. Perhaps I've unwittingly entered a contest? Regardless, I'd really like the persistent texts to cease, but I'm worried about racking up any fees in the process.

It appears that both our husbands have been charged for this as well. We contacted O2 and they explained that the fee was linked to SMS services, which she doesn’t actually use. The company responsible is Enpocket, and their phone number is 020 7478 1264 - give them a bell to sort it out. It seems these folks are billing through your mobile provider, which raises the question of how this was ever permitted, as my agreement is solely with O2 on a monthly payment plan. Tried calling the number earlier today but got a message in a language I couldn’t understand; I’ll give it another go tomorrow. Best of luck to us all!

I shall pursue you through the small claims court for the inconvenience you've caused me, at a rate of £12.50 an hour. It's utterly unacceptable that you've opted to sell my personal information to various companies. I attempted to reach out to you directly, yet you persisted in trading my details. Expect to see me in court, seeking £200 plus any associated court fees.

Last night, we decided to order a Domino's Pizza after finding their number online. Once we returned to our computer, we stumbled upon a website stating we'd won a new phone. Naturally, we filled in the information they asked for and then received a text from 88866. At this point, we’re unsure if we'll be charged for that message or if there will be additional costs on the way. It certainly feels as though we may have fallen into a bit of a trap!
