This has got to be some sort of scam, we started getting charged loads for texting "stop" from my daughter's phone. Every time we tried to cancel it said there was an error but the charges kept coming. In the end, she got billed for more than 25 messages, proper frustrating!

This number, or one very similar to it but with some extra digits at the start, sent me a dodgy message. The one I got was from 8788833. Just a heads up that it’s connected to something called offers2you, so watch out. If you want to stop getting charged, just text STOP to 88833 and that should cancel it.

I got messages that cost £1.50 each time I got one. They say to text stop to quit, but my son didn’t mention any of this and just put the messages into the spam folder. Even with that, they kept coming through and I ended up paying loads. It’s really frustrating and feels like a total rip-off.

I see that quite a few folks have mentioned the number 88833, and I can definitely relate to the irritation it brings. I've attempted to block those messages myself, only for them to keep returning from an unknown source! I'm at my wits' end trying to figure out how to free myself from this incessant nuisance. The £4.50 a week fee for what seemingly amounts to a load of game rubbish is just unacceptable. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make these messages stop once and for all? I'm not letting this go until I've sorted it out!

Regarding the incessant text messages from 88833, I've realised they operate under the name Offer Scanner. Shockingly, these pesky messages can cost you £4.50 each week! I recommend shooting them an email, but be prepared- they'll request your mobile number. Their contact email is [email protected]. Fingers crossed this information proves useful to everyone!

so 88833 is one of those premium text numbers from offers2you[###]. basically it’s a subscription you might've accidentally signed up to, charging you between £1.50 for each message and up to £4.50 every week. i found out the hard way since my kid ended up doing it and i got the bill! if you wanna quit it, just reply “stop” to the number and that should cancel it.

I rang up O2's customer support, and the chap assured me he’d put a stop to any more messages coming my way, but lo and behold, they're still arriving! Decided to pop into the nearest O2 store for some assistance. The staff member mentioned that I ought to reach out to the sender of these pesky texts, which is easier said than done since I haven’t a clue who it is. She said she’d place another block, but I’m not holding my breath. At this rate, I might have to consider changing my number altogether. It's baffling why the mobile companies aren't taking more action against these dodgy operators!

Honestly, I’m clueless about this and would rather not find out. The safest bet is to email customercare@oxygens[f##], don’t bother texting back since they’ll just keep billing you. Texting their 88833 number will cost you more, so avoid that.

Oi, I’ve just switched from Vodafone to O2 and blimey, it’s turning out to be an absolute nightmare! I'm inundated with random texts, including this one, and I’m being charged for them. I rang O2, and they promised to block these numbers, but nothing happened. They also said they would remove the charges, but surprise, surprise, that hasn’t been done either. I'm seriously considering raising this with Ofcom. Honestly, steer clear of O2! I’m also going to approach the ICO as I’m desperate to understand how my details have leaked since I joined O2. It’s beyond infuriating. If you're currently with O2, you should definitely double-check your bills for any unexpected charges. This month I’ve been hit with an extra £6.25 for those pesky unsolicited texts. Absolutely fuming!

I've received yet another short code message, marking the eighth in just three days! Please, whatever you do, don't respond, not even with a 'stop' - that only confirms to them that this number is active, which they can then sell on to other spam peddlers. If you happen to have an Android device, be sure to add the number to your block list. It's also wise to get in touch with your service provider at your earliest convenience. Let them know you haven't subscribed to these messages, and urge them to implement a block on short code premium numbers for your account. This should help prevent any potential charges. I hope this information proves useful to you!
