I keep getting calls from Dixy Chicken, it's getting really annoying.

This number is really shady and annoying. If you’re getting texts you never signed up for, it’s probably a sign they’ve hacked your phone and might be stealing your bank info to sell or misuse it. I’m also getting emails from booking . com asking me to verify my ID ever since I started receiving those messages from 88802.

treasuretrails.co.uk offer treasure trails all over the UK. We’ve done loads and they’re great fun. If a clue stumps you, you can text the clue number to 88802 to get the answer - though this number actually links to 08444 994 686, which confused me a bit as the bill shows that longer number instead of 88802. On EE pay monthly, it looks like it costs 19p per message.

Looks like they’re aware of some claim I supposedly made!! The message says to text LAWYER to 88802. Judging by the comments here, it seems like the typical SCAM from a PREMIUM RATE number.

Got a message from AscentAP about some disco nights, with a link to book. Didn’t bother clicking it. Tried to opt out by texting 88802, but I was on a pay-as-you-go phone with no credit, so message didn’t go through. Also tried replying to their text, but again, no delivery. Not sure if these companies are legit marketing or just outsourcing, but charging the customer to opt out? That’s just rubbish. Honestly, just block any messages you don’t want - no opt-outs needed and no sneaky fees to worry about 😊

Got a text saying they needed a telehandler for tomorrow in Faringdon, Oxfordshire (SN7). They’re offering £20 an hour and want someone with a legit CSCS card. Contact Earl quick on 07503703252 if you’re interested. To stop the messages, text VVGCX to 88802.

I got a call from someone claiming to be a government survey, saying I’d get £10 for taking part. They asked me to text 88802 to opt out but it costs £1 each time, up to £5. They even made a website that looks proper official. Don’t fall for it, it’s clearly a scam.

Got a text from a UK mobile number, with info they found about me to try and get my attention. The message says to send a code to 88802 to quit the texts, but it’s not just the word STOP, it’s some random code that ends up charging you. I’ve blocked the number loads of times but it just changes to another UK mobile number straight away.

Love Hemp keeps sending me texts saying I need to reply to their number to stop the spam. But I’m on a pay-as-you-go and can’t text premium numbers, plus no clue what it would actually cost me. I reckon I’ll just ring that number (08444994686 ) instead and hopefully make them fork out a decent wage to get me taken off their list.

We were on the hunt for "affordable loans" and ended up firing off a bunch of applications to different firms using the email address [email protected]. It's probably not going to lead to anything substantial, but it did keep us amused while we waited for our microwave meal to be done.

I received a message from the number 88802 regarding some supposed financial compensation we're meant to receive. It read: "FREE MSG: Our records suggest you could be owed £3750 due to an accident you were involved in. To make a claim at no cost, reply INJURY to this text. If you'd rather not receive any more messages, reply QPTU." Quite curious, isn't it?

Oh dear! We received the exact same email, but in a bit of a muddle, we replied thinking it was my mate James who called. It wasn’t until later that it dawned on us what had happened! Does anyone know if our response could cause any issues? Honestly, I really ought to put more thought into my actions before jumping in! :?

I seem to be receiving fresh messages almost daily! They keep ringing me, introducing themselves as Lindsay, claiming they’ve located a loan opportunity for me. Although they urge me to reply with STOP to unsubscribe, it’s a bit of a farce because they never seem to take the hint, even after I’ve sent that text.

Each day, we find ourselves inundated with two or three texts from various numbers, urging us to stop these messages by replying to 88802. Yet, despite our attempts, these notifications persist without end. We're at a loss as to how to block them entirely. Around six weeks back, we applied for a loan and, rather foolishly, shared our details with a site called Glitec. It's become clear that they must have flogged our email address since we use our own domain (glitec@*****.com). Given that, we can only assume they've also peddled our name and phone number to other parties. Quite the nuisance, really!

Hello there! Quick question about Saturday-at what time am I due to show up? Lisa mentioned it would be an early start for me. By the way, I really wish we had your email; our computer packed up and we’ve lost all our contacts. If you get this message twice, just disregard it and have a brilliant Christmas! Haha! On another note, I’ve been inundated with messages since taking out a loan. I thought I’d sorted everything by ticking the right options to avoid further correspondence, yet here I am, bombarded with daily emails, texts at all sorts of odd hours, and my phone keeps ringing off the hook. It’s driving me round the bend!

Greetings! This afternoon, we received a rather similar email at our work inbox! While I haven't responded just yet, our curiosity has been piqued. After seeing your message, we'll certainly be on our guard! Clearly, it's some sort of scam. It's a tad concerning, if I'm honest.

I've just received the very same email, and now I'm getting a series of texts from various mobile numbers, all featuring the same opt-out code. The only time I've shared my details is when I made a purchase at B&Q, so it seems likely they’ve passed my information along.

We've received a similar email too, and it's definitely a scam. Best to just disregard it entirely and avoid replying. It seems like those scammers are attempting to validate your email address, and if you respond, they might try to trick you into confirming your identity. If they happen to call you, don't divulge your genuine name. They will likely request it, but it's wise to simply hang up instead. Stay safe!

What a shocking marketing tactic! I received an email detailing exactly when I was supposed to meet up with a chap named James this weekend. It created a right stir, as my ex got in touch with James, leaving my wife absolutely mortified by the entire situation. It was only after I learned that this was all a scam that I managed to calm her down. Cheers to everyone here for sharing the info!

Absolutely feel your pain! We've opted out of everything, ticking every box to prevent our details being used for marketing. Yet here we are, bombarded with annoying text messages for the past four months! And to add insult to injury, the ads on this site promoting loans are aimed at people who are clearly struggling-it's quite the laugh, isn't it? Who seriously takes out a loan based on a random text or an online advertisement? Perhaps we're just overly sceptical, but it does seem a bit mad, doesn’t it?

Honestly, it’s baffling why I keep receiving these ridiculous SMS messages about loan scams. It’s clear I’m not going to take out another payday loan anytime soon, especially when I’m still dealing with the one I already have. Why on earth am I even being considered for another loan when I’ve just signed up for a payday advance? It’s all a bit odd, isn’t it?

Received the same message myself, and oddly enough, it mentioned my wife's name. Seems like this person was in contact with her earlier this week? Fingers crossed, as we switched our phone number a few weeks back, so we might just dodge these annoying texts. Let's keep our hopes up!

Received a text earlier on from 07866 976310, trying to pitch a loan. They mentioned I could text stopnow to 88802 if I didn’t want any further messages. Honestly, I'm feeling a bit hesitant to do that.
