Got a message from Halifax with an OTP 729393 for a payment of 130.55 to ARGOS PLC. They said not to share the code with anyone. If I didn't authorise this, I should check out their website. Bit worrying!

Got a text from 88688 saying it was HSBC, telling me not to share some code with anyone, not even the police or bank staff, then mentioned a payment of £699.99 at ARGOS using code 465008. They said if it wasn’t me, to ring 0333 339 4487. Definitely a scam though - I’ve received loads of texts pretending to be from the bank with codes like these.

Make sure you report every scam call, text, or email to 'Action Fraud'. This is really the only way the police get a clear picture of how widespread these scams are and can then respond properly. These scammers are seriously skilled, often targeting older people, those who are vulnerable, and even younger folks who might not fully get how risky modern tech can be or how criminals take advantage of it.

So it looks like Iva has won a Tesco prize in their September raffle. If you get a message about it, the safest bet is to send it on to 7726. Just remember, Vodafone uses a different number, so it won’t work for them.

I got a message saying my phone number was being moved to another person. I foolishly entered my address and email, and then it asked for my card info. When I copied the link into my laptop browser, it flagged it as unsafe. The site looked just like the GiffGaff support page, so watch out if you get similar texts and always verify the link on a computer to be sure it’s legit.

Every few months i get this kind of message saying ive got (1) message from amazon waiting to be read here: [#]8xf.us/Siijc. Its annoying because it keeps saying my name was on this july 1st list and that ive won £500 worth of vouchers for tesco or amazon. They always ask you to pay 99p to prove youre over 18, saying its just an age check and there wont be any other charges. Obviously, its a trick cause later they try to charge you even more, with excuses like "oh i didnt think id actually win anything" and so on. Avoid it!
