Somebody came round to my place saying I was overpaying on my energy. They said they could sort me out a refund and get me in touch with Scottish Power. Later on, I got a text from 88440 with a link asking me to call back if interested. They then tried to get me to hand over my phone to connect or something, but I said no way and told them to get lost. It was a young woman, who looked like she might be a lesbian, with an Indian guy. They kept switching between two iPads and a phone moving info about or something.

Beware, this is a scam! They pretended to be Masala Twist Indian restaurant. I placed an order online around half a year ago, and now they spam me nearly every week with pointless adverts. Cherryloans, Simply Loans & Fortis all appear to be using the same 88440 text number for opting out of their messages. I've received texts from all three, two offering me loan applications and one saying my loan was declined (even though I've never applied). I ordered from a restaurant during the lockdown and now they keep bombarding me with texts. They’ve given a number to opt out, but it’s a premium rate, so I’d actually have to pay them to make the messages stop. Proper cheeky if you ask me.

The caller ID showed "InnerFir" and linked me to a site that closely resembles the Inner Fire takeaway, but the message wasn't actually from their number. Tried sending a message to 2276 but it wouldn’t go through. No chance I’m texting leave to some random shortcode like they said.

Got a message from NEXT with a link saying I could unlock early sale access. It told me to text NEXT to 88440 if I wanted to opt out of future messages. I reported it to Vodafone’s nuisance texts and calls team. They suggested I send STOP ALL to 88440 to quit the texts.
