My mum’s been getting charged by 88227 for ages now, and she didn’t at all agree to any of it. I tried texting STOP to their number but it just never goes through. Really frustrating!

For months now, xwin has been taking £3.75 from me every single week. I have no idea how to make it stop. Can anyone help me figure out what to do? I'm desperate to get this sorted.

Avoid any contact with this number or websites linked to Xin Win - they’re total con artists. They try to squeeze money out of people, and phone providers won’t help you get it back. It’s like being robbed in broad daylight! Honestly, they ought to be charged with fraud or something similar.

Over the past half year, I've lost about £170 and there's no way to put a stop to it. Sending a STOP message does nothing, and the so-called 'customer support' line turns out to be a con. O2 just don’t seem bothered and want to charge me £35 just to switch my number. Looks like I’ll be ditching them for another network.

I’ve been fooled too, been paying £3.75 a week for nearly 9 months without realising. I shot them an email asking for a refund. They rang me back right away, saying I’d signed up for some Tesco deal and just didn’t notice the small print. That was the end of it, no chance of getting my cash back. Thinking about whether taking it to the Small Claims Court might actually work?

Instead of just replying, I gave sending a new message a go and it actually did the trick for me.

This is awful... my mum, who lives off her pension, got tricked by this scam. The people working there weren’t any help at all, and she still hasn’t managed to get her money back. She never agreed to anything, yet they’ve taken £27 straight from her bank. Honestly, these lot need to be reported.

My phone provider gave me this number 03332020478, which I then called to request a refund through 88227. They directed me to a website for the refund form: xienquire.xinwin.co.uk. I found the form online, filled it out, and now I'm just waiting to hear back. According to the voicemail from 88227, the company should get back to me in about 5 to 7 days, and the refund will be issued via cheque. We'll see how it goes.

Spoke to someone from this number earlier and they told me to visit a site to claim back £3.75 for every text I'd received... I got 5 texts altogether and want all that money back. After reading the reviews here, I'm not so sure it's legit. If I don't get the full refund, I'm seriously thinking about getting legal help and might even take them to court.

Like a few others have said, I somehow ended up giving my mobile number to a ‘free’ Lidl competition and got charged £4.50 before I even had the chance to text stop. I don’t check my phone often, and most of the time it’s just switched off.

I keep a £5 safety net with Tesco Mobile so Xinwin can only withdraw the £4.50 once a month. Lately, I shrunk that to £2.50 till I'm sure everything's fixed. Like you, I texted "STOP" but they just ignored me. I rang them today and the woman I got was really nice, said she’d halted further payments, basically enforced my "stop" order. She told me to visit "xienquire.xinwin.co.uk" where I could claim a refund easily... funny thing is, that site doesn’t even work! So that "friendly" lady was clearly fibbing, and now I can’t be sure if the payments are actually stopped at all. Feels like one big scam. I’m gonna reach out to "PhonepayPlus" next - I’ve heard they help people get their names off these dodgy lists and get any money back. Phonepayplus is like the OFGEM for premium rate numbers. Since November, I blocked all premium calls and texts on my phone too. Everyone should check out www.phonepayplus.org.uk and get these scammers shut down, seriously.

I was going through my Tesco club card site and found out I was automatically entered into some competition. Then I got a text telling me I was signed up for a £4 a month service and if I didn’t want it, I should text 88227. Turns out, to opt out, it cost me £3.75. Cheers for that, Tesco!

You can ask your phone company to block the number, or try ringing the scam outfit on 03332027723. If you get spam texts, just forward them to 7726 and it won’t cost you a penny. Also, if you reckon you’ve been scammed, get in touch with PhonepayPlus to report it.

This number kept texting me about some Tesco competition, but I didn’t realise it was a premium rate and that I’d be charged just for getting the messages. I’ve contacted Vodafone and they’ve blocked the number now and assured me I won’t be billed again. Does Tesco even know this is happening???

I just gave 03332027723 a ring, thought it might be a freephone for XinWin. Spoke to a lass there who said they're going to stop sending all texts now. Here's hoping it actually works this time...

Just call up your network and ask them to block any premium rate texts both in and out. It’s the easiest way to stop those costly messages.
