I've just checked my phone statement and it's an eye-watering £213 - I could weep! I attempted to contact ESA, as they instructed me to call regarding a sick note. Unfortunately, I was left hanging and then disconnected. After a few more attempts to get through, I lost all hope of speaking with someone. I honestly never imagined I'd be landed with such a hefty bill. Tomorrow, I plan on ringing Sky, though I'm not holding my breath - I've heard they're notoriously unhelpful. I discovered that this number is intended for the ESA, but I urge you not to ring it! I dialled in on the 18th of August and ended up on hold for an astounding 11 minutes and 6 seconds, which racked up a whopping £35 charge. With my husband currently out of work, our reliance on ESA has made finances particularly tight. It's been quite a battle trying to manage this bill. Do yourself a favour and steer clear of this number to avoid facing the same predicament I did!

On 17.09.2021, I had to prove my disability benefits for a dentist appointment. It took me 11 minutes and 7 seconds to get through to ESA, and my call cost me £1.02. Then, after another call lasting 7 seconds, I was charged £40.02. Another 11 minutes and 7 seconds on the phone set me back 43p. I searched online for the ESA helpline number and got two choices: either press a button on my mobile to connect, which I assumed might cost something, or ring 09011490500 from a landline. I called from a home phone and missed the tiny text saying it’d be over £3.90 from landlines. I was just trying to find out why my payment hadn’t come through and ended up with a bill of £41.76 for about 10 minutes! That’s almost a quarter of the money I was waiting on.
