I just got my BT phone bill and noticed they charged me £6.23 two times for a call on 11th October.
This seems off, I didn’t make that call, feels like some sort of scam. Could someone please check it out for me? I’m 88 years old and don’t need this hassle.

Got charged more than £100 after three calls from 09011490900. I don’t even recall dialling that number. Total rip off!

Had this number show up on my phone bill like 4 times in just one hour. Ended up with a £121 charge, which is mad since I've never dialled it before. BT told me to check the PS Authority website, so I did, and apparently this is a premium rate number linked to ESA W&D dept helplines. After that, I found callhelplines.co.uk and submitted a refund request through their form. Now just waiting to hear back from them.

On 31st March, I phoned the DWP on an 0800 number to ask about benefits and didn't really think twice. But then I looked at my Sky bill and saw I’d been charged nearly £42 for a single call, and the same charge for another call on the same day. I had loads of bills to pay around that time, so I didn’t go through my statements properly. After searching that number online, loads of complaints popped up about the DWP and similar charges. I’m now trying to figure out how to deal with this. Does anyone know what I should do?

No idea who rang me, but Vodafone are billing me £16.72 for a call I never got or made from that number. Seems a bit off to me.

My aunt was looking up the NHS attendance allowance and came across this number on Google. She ended up being billed £19.96 for just a 5-minute phone call! Fortunately, Tesco Mobile stopped the call because she has a £20 limit on extra charges on her plan.

My partner got caught out by a dodgy premium rate service pretending to be from HMRC, ended up losing £50 - I was absolutely livid. However, I managed to get the full £50 back! What I did was look up the PSA (premium rate regulator) to find who owned the number, which turned out to be 'Telecoms World Ltd'. I reached out to their customer service and they passed me on to the helpline-uk site. I raised a complaint there, but heard nothing back. Then I went straight back to Telecoms World and after showing them a screenshot of my bill showing the charges, they agreed to refund me right away. I gave them my bank info and within a day the money was back in my account. I made sure to check Telecoms World before all this to confirm they weren’t scammy themselves - turns out they're legit company who provide the phone lines, and the scammers hire those lines. They clearly don’t want to deal with complaints so if you’ve got ripped off, definitely follow up with them. Hope that helps!

Got charged £35 for a call that lasted just 11 minutes from 09011490500. The weird thing is, no one at home remembers making this call at all. Feels like when you answer the phone, they somehow use your number to forward the call and then slap the bill on you. Absolutely ridiculous!!!
