My partner fell victim to a scam from this number, which claimed to be a helpline for child benefits. We ended up with £196 in charges from two calls that, as it turns out, simply redirected us to the genuine Child Benefit line. We're definitely going to take the advice from others who've shared their experiences and attempt to get our money back. It’s utterly shameful that such companies are allowed to operate!

Suspicious number claiming to be HMRC. I was on the line for just 4 minutes, and it set me back £25! Fortunately, I had a spending cap in place, which saved me from further charges and cut off the call. If you're facing a similar issue, I'd advise you to reach out to your mobile provider for them to look into it and possibly get your money back.

UPDATE from two days ago - My wife fell prey to this dodgy premium-rate 'connection' service posing as HMRC, and we ended up losing £50. I was absolutely livid! BUT I MANAGED TO GET A FULL REFUND!! Here’s the lowdown - I looked up the PSA (the premium rate regulator) and found the contact info for the number’s owners, 'Telecoms World Ltd'. I got in touch with their support, who then provided me with the details for helpline-uk. I lodged a complaint with helpline-uk but heard nothing back, so I circled back to the support team at Telecoms World. After I sent over a screenshot of my phone bill showing the charges, they agreed to refund me completely. I provided my bank details, and within a day, the money was back in my account! I did my homework on Telecoms World beforehand to ensure they weren't the actual scammers, and it turns out they are a legitimate company that lets out their lines to these con artists. They’d rather avoid the hassle of complaints, so it's crucial you raise your voice if you've been a victim. Wishing you all the best!

It’s absolutely scandalous that individuals with nefarious intentions are permitted to operate freely. One has to wonder why businesses turn a blind eye to this issue.

Beware of the website helplines-uk.com - they’re running a dodgy scheme with a premium phone line that costs a staggering £3.60 per minute.

My partner ended up ringing this number after seeing an ad on Google that appeared to be for HMRC. Unfortunately, she didn’t realise that 090 indicated a premium rate call and we were left with a bill of £50, which thankfully is our spending limit, or else we could have faced an even heftier charge.

If you've encountered this shady operation as well, I highly recommend reporting the number to the PSA (the authority overseeing premium rate services). Additionally, lodge a complaint with Telecoms World Limited, the company behind the phone line.

It's also a good idea to alert Action Fraud, Wix (the platform hosting their site), and HMRC, as they supposedly take action against such unscrupulous businesses.

Wishing you the best of luck!

Beware of this dodgy site - helplines-uk - that connects you to a premium rate number at a whopping £3.60 a minute. My partner ended up dialling this number after stumbling upon a Google advertisement claiming to be the HMRC helpline, completely oblivious to the fact that 090 numbers are extortionate premium lines. We ended up getting hit with a £50 bill, which luckily matched our spending limit; otherwise, it could have been a far more distressing situation. If you’ve found yourself in a similar predicament, I strongly urge you to report this number to the PSA, the regulator for premium rate phonelines in the UK, and lodge your grievance with Telecoms World Limited, the company behind this line. It’s also worthwhile to file a complaint with Action Fraud, and if you could, alert Wix since they host the site, as well as HMRC, who are known to take action against such fraudulent outfits. Wishing you all the best!

My girlfriend attempted to get in touch with HMRC and dialled this number. It cost a whopping £3.45 a minute, and she ended up on hold for a good 12 minutes. To make matters worse, she made two additional attempts to reach HMRC via the same number. She’s quite distraught about it and feels rather foolish, but hey, you live and you learn, right? Moreover, after sifting through these remarks, it’s becoming painfully clear that my monthly phone bill is going to take quite a hit!

I absolutely did not initiate this call, yet somehow I've been billed £18.15 for a mere 4 minutes and 25 seconds.
